whilst attempting a world record for waiting the longest time for an
iva to be set up, we have received a letter from a creditor, (empire
stores) to say they have passed the debt on to nationwide debt recovery.
got a letter off ndr yesterday, asking for full amount,(£800), my wife
spoke to them, they told her they were not willing to agree to a repayment plan and want the full amount or they will 'start proceedings'. we have two other creditors who have passed debt to
ndr (littlewoods direct and great universal) and we have been paying
token payments for a while with no problems.
do you think its because they know we are waiting for iva?.
what should we tell them?

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling down, and I can understand why. You need to send all letters you receive to the company who are dealing with your IVA, and politely inform your creditors that you are proposing an IVA and give them the details of the company. Do you have the date of your creditor's meeting yet? If you do, tell them that as well. If the proposal has been sent out they should know, but often the information doesn't filter down in big companies.

If you don't mind me asking, what company are you using? How long is it since you first spoke to them?

Good luck, and keep posting - we are all here for you. There will always be someone who can advise you, and if you just want to have a moan or a chat go to friends corner!

hi skippy. thanks for your interest.
we are using grant thornton, we sent off our paperwork
in december, then we had delay for christmas etc,
then the post office lost a recorded delivery item.
i have been ringing GT every couple of weeks, we had delay whilst house was valued, last time i spoke to
someone our proposal was waiting to be drafted.that was 2 weeks ago, nothing since.

I was worried you were going to say you were using Synergi! I haven't heard any bad things about Grant Thornton, only that they are slow, although as someone said on here the other day that could be no bad thing - it's better to be thorough and get it right.

If I were you I would give them a call to chase them up next week - it doesn't hurt to keep them on their toes!

in the defence of Grant Thornton, the initial contact
was first class, as have the follow up calls.
the people are unfailingly cheerful, curteous and polite.
i guess we just picked the wrong time of year.
last couple of times i have rang my contact i get an
answerphone, which adds to our frustration,i suppose they are very busy.

It would be nice to have the same high level of service from start to finish in an IVA.However reality is different. You will feel that nothing is too much trouble at the start but that it will slowly deteriorate as time goes on,probably just a yearly contact for your review.Your IP will pass the running of your case to one of their assistants so, unless there is a problem ,it will just tick along.

i can only speak as i find so far.
the cynical among us would certainly agree they are
bound to be nice as they are taking your money off
you.
i don't really care how often i hear from them, i don't want to be stalked, or to have them as my new best friend, i just want the whole thing sorted.
