help i,m scared

i have decided that iva is right for me, i cant carry on the way i have been doing, robbing peter to pay paul. but i am soo scared. it all sounds daunting especially when i heard the term insolvancy.i know there isnt any other way(42,000 debt plus a secured loan)i cant believe it has come to this,but as i realise it is my own doing and some bad luck along the way.did everyone else feel like this? i have read the blogs but it would be nice to hear from someone else. thanks

you are not alone in how you feel!

dont be scared you are facing your problems now and there will be a way forward to get things sorted.

i was in the same position as you robbin one to pay another, i still feel scared at times and will do until my iva has been accepted hopefully but there is a lot of support on here and there will be a expert along soon to advice you!!

i really feel for you but just by facing up to things and getting someone professional to act for you you will feel like a weight has been lifted!

there will be a solution - hang on in there hun!!

we've all been there and it is very scary and daunting starting out. But you have made the most important step which is recognizing the problem and sorting it out. Have you spoken to any companies yet? I would reccomend speaking to a few different ones. You couldn't go wrong by having a word with Melanie [:)]

Most people feel the same. You bury your head in the sand until it gets to a point where you can't sleep for the worry and then it's time to act.

Once it's all in motion, you really will feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders. I know you still have to pay it back and sometimes it CAN be a struggle - don't kid yourself on that score - BUT the peace of mind you get is priceless.

I must admit since ive been in my iva i can really look forward again, i just remember all them bills coming in with all the interest increasing dramatically, not sleeping at night with worry, the weight on my shoulders is extremely light now.
I still worry a bit that the IVA might fail later on from unforseen circumstances but I try to look on the bright side that i will be a hell of a lot better off in a few years time & I dont know about anyone else but I am determind that I will never be in this predicament again.

One of the hardest parts of starting a debt solution process is admitting that you have a financial problem in the first place, and then sitting down to map out the amount you owe and the level of disposable income you have available. Once this problem is shared with a professional you will feel that the difficulties are then under control and you can concentrate on other things without the full burden of worry remaining on your shoulders. I hope you manage to find a way forward soon.

I'm now at month 30 and I've learnt to live with mine! As melanie says its about accepting that you are in financial difficulties.

I still feel very confused about the whole IVA process.My head still wants to back in the sand some days.Sometimes I even think I might not have needed to do an IVA , but that's denial still.I was totally insolvant, but didn't want to admit it.I justkept borrowing more to meet my monthly payments.Obviously, this could not have gone on for ever.It's proberbly the best phonecall I mad elast year. I'm looking it as the most positive move that I have made in a long time, especially with all the talk of the credit crunch and recession looming.

It may be a struggle at times, but it WILL be worth it when it's all done and dusted.

Hi there it is a scary and daunting time when you realise that you have to do something about your debts. I can only say how I feel and that is so much better than I felt living with all the struggling and the worrying about how I would manage to get through another month. Just make sure it is the right solution for your situation, that you understand everything, and choose a good Ip, most important. When you do your income and expenditure make sure it is accurate for your needs. Living in an iva is not easy but it is not unmanageable, it has taught me to think before I buy, to budget, and most surprisingly to save for the first time in my life. You will be fine I am sure, because you know you need to sort it out now, that is the hardest part to admit sometimes.

you have made a big step already.. take some advise from a professional.. if you go on www.iva.com you will get some names for IVA companies. I would speak to Melanies team also.. they are brill!!
