Hi Mrs Knight - sorry to read what a rubbish time you are having - sending you a big cyberhug and I'm sure the team at Gt will get on the case for you - its great to see them on the forum to pick up issues like this.

Hope things get resolved and the PMB (preganancy mush brain) doesn't last too long!

:-)

Hi there congrats on pregnancy... I have recently contacted GT via email as advised by Karol above, I had a really quick response and they were so helpful, so I would recommend you do this in order to minimize your stress and look after yourself and baby xx

Hi, I've looked at the consumer website (very helpful). Going on what the website says, I have contacted the dealer & their reply was "you have to remember the car is 9 yrs old & the air-conditioning system may need re-gasing/servicing & the radio may have a loose connection" as the answer. So they are not offering to do anything about it. The website also says I should of checked all the electrics inside :( & it will depend on how serious the fault is.
I think I'm going to take it in next week to my garage & see what's up. I just don't think I've got it in me to battle with the car dealer over it & the website talks about taking legal/court action as a last resort. I'm never one to walk away from consumer issues, but I'm just not up to it.

Thanks GT & yes I will email you ASAP, I'm not at my pc at the mo so bare with me.

Thanks Tina for the cyber hug :) I'm quite drained n teary today, I hope the PMB wears off soon too! X

As said above, Lyns, the most important thing now is your health and the baby. Of course the dealer is still thinking along the lines of air con and not standard ventilation. Incidentally, it's age is no excuse.

Anyway -- from what you have said, I am pretty sure it's the switch at fault, as the fan itself was working at high speed before.

Good luck to you,

Hi Mart. I think it's a case of the fan not working at all now (so difficult to tell if it would be blowing hot or cold). As it initially worked on high setting only, but now doesn't work at all I think it's likely to be the switch.

If it IS a case of it blowing cold, it's likely to be, as you say, low coolant or an air lock in the heater matrix. Other possibilities are the flap control linkages have come adrift.

Hi mart thanks for the reply, I think your right foggy, I've checked my manual just to make sure I'm not going mad, quite glad to say I'm not. The fan is definitely not kicking in at all now, nor is it doing anything.
The car has not been serviced by a garage, but by the previous owner themselves. The Dealer "did" a small service prior to purchase. I wanted to take it in for a major service to give me peace of mind, will now need to sort this first.
As I'm proving to be useless with cars & have no friends good with them either, other than u guys on the forum, I really appreciate your help x

Mrs Knight, looks like it may be common problem on the Ford Focus.

Have a look at this thread may help solve it for you.
http://passionford.com/forum/technical- ... oblem.html

even has a photo showing the offending part.

I know it's not applicable here but for those with air con or climate control in your cars, always make sure you run the system at least once a week (mine was on all the time) or you may find the pump seizes and having it on all the time (unlike the rumours) only affected the mileage by around 2-3mpg which is better than driving around with an open window.

I hope this all helps Lyns. I don't know anything about cars either and every rattle sends me into a spin!

Thanks for that ST1100 - I've got a Ford and that forum could come in useful!

I hardly ever have the window open as I prefer using the air con and it saves the general public from having to share my music!

Thanks ST1100, I looked at the link & yes it's really useful & does appear to be what's going on with mine. Mind u some of it went well over my head! I phoned the garage I go to n trust & they pretty much said what the link said, but as it's stopped working altogether it might be 2 things :(
It going in next Tuesday, fingers crossed. I'm not bothered about the air con but not being able to de mist windows really worries me.

GT: I will email u tomorrow morning, ended up a busy afternoon with my boys n looking after the neighbors little one, thank u very much for the response.

Sorry Lyns, only just caught up with this.

How bad that you are having trouble with your car and hope you can get it sorted out.

Must admit that although we don't use our aircon often, it does help with demisting - as soon as we switch the dial to screen the aircon kicks in. I usually turn it off though - can't afford the extra fuel!!

Not good Lyns, I have a Focus and if only you lived closer my son in law would help, he does bits on my car brakes included so I do keep on his right side! lol x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
