Just caught up with this thread and so happy you got sorted Emma ... the people on this forum are truly wonderful and have helped me more than they know.

If you'd been near me in Lancashire I would have offered you a food parcel too (my cupboards are a bit barren too at the moment but I have lots of tins lol) as I know how hard it can be and there have been times when a small act from someone else has literally saved us and they will often not know how sincerely grateful I feel for that.

I know the tears of joy that come with a small hand of help & kindness in this IVA world and I am so glad you found support and also a way through xx

"Lots of Tins", Til --- that reminded me ... when I was a youngster the UK hit recession (I was unaware of it at the time, being too young) ... but my mum used to go and buy boxes of dented and unlabelled tins --- meal times were an adventure because you never knew what was going to come out of the tin!! (Never dog food, before you ask!).

I used to like those boxes of broken biscuits you used to be able to get too :-)

Happy Days !

When I was a kid I used to love getting my pocket money to go to a local sweet shop and buy what they used to call 'waste' which were the mis-shape sweets they couldn't sell at full price!

Nothing to do with the original thread and forgive me for hijacking but Foggy's post just reminded me of that.

Lol Foggy I remember unlabelled tins and broken biscuits too! Funny how what was obviously an economy drive for our parents and probably not something they would have chosen to do if money was no object, remains a happy memory for us both! Kids see the world as a happier more hopeful place I think! [:D]

... and I must admit a cupboard full of tins still gives me a sense of security and comfort ha ha! [:)]

Never had the unlabelled tins but have done the broken biscuits - they still taste the same so who cares?

I don't mind eating stuff out of date either - if it looks, smells and tastes good then it will be. Never done me any harm.

How humbling to review the posts on this thread and see the overwhelming level of support offered to Emma in her time of need. I read a lot of the other debt forums, and there is no place like this. I salute all of you - and thank goodness the money was returned.

Coming from Liverpool a huge pan of Scouse was an integral part of the weekly menu to feed 5 of us for very little cost - chuck a load of potatoes in the bulk it up and we were never hungry. I still make this every now and again to bring back memories (and when I run out of money before I run out of month!) but my partner is from Manchester and she doesn't get the attraction! [:D]

I have no recollection of anything like this which is sad. I have a poor diet now due to my childhood and am what I would consider a freaky eater but I've got to this age with no ill effect so I'll continue. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
