Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum and wanted some help re: bank accounts

I'm in the process of applying for IVA and wondered what bank account I could open based on my creditors, who are:

HSBC
Tesco / RBS
Cahoot
MBNA / Virgin
monument
mint
halifax
barclaycard
Goldfish

I was in the process of opening an Abbey account but understand that cahoot are a subsidiary of the Abbey - does this matter?

Thanks

I opened a Basic account with Nationwide in 10 minutes - they were brilliant.

No chequebook or debit card but you get a cashcard and Internet Banking.

Thanks everyone for your advice

Decided to go with co-operative as they have debit card with there basic account as opposed to only a cash card with the nationwide basic.

Application sorted in 10 mins - agreed in principle [:)] - have to wait 48 hours for confirmation.

Sounds excellent. My only worry would be the limited number of branches in the UK.

I'm not too worried about the lack of branches as you can pay money in at the Post Office. I actually prefer talking to the bank over the phone as it's more private - I went in Nationwide a couple of days ago and their idea of privacy was a desk at one end of the bank! I had to whisper otherwise everyone in the queue would have know I was petitioning for BR!

Onwards and upwards!!!

I opened an account with Alliance & Leicester over the internet - agreed in principle in half an hour then received account details, pin numbers etc through post and am awaiting debit card due in next 7 working days. No mention of IVA on internet forms only CCJs.
