Hi All
My hubby Marcus has been posting on here and ive been lurking in the background. Thought I would post on here and say hi as you all seem a very freindly bunch and im itching to talk to you all.

Ok my user name is perhaps odd, since we are currently looking at an IVA and the amount we owe may not be looked upon as 'Thrifty!', but to be honest, like others im sure, I haven't lived the high life whilst using my credit, infact we robbed Peter to pay Paul, and never realised that after paying our creditors each month it never left enough money for essential living costs, and would frequently find me whipping out a credit card to pay for our groceries!

Anyway, we have set wheels in motion and are keeping our fingers crossed the fantastic Melanie and her team will be able to help us. Marcus spoke to Tina the other day and has nothing but praise already! Hope to get to know all and am praying we aren't lost causes! :-)

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Not often we get a husband and wife 'team' on here.

You have picked an excellent IP who comes highly rated.

I'm sure the thrifty part of your name will come into play soon!

Thank you x
Im normally the one doing all the forum chat to be honest....on this occasion though I have to admit to being in denial about our problems long after Marcus realised! He works funny hours too so see it as me filling in for him whilst he is working! [:D]

Hi and welcome to the forum. We too were in denial for quite some time and now are 4 months into the IVA and so far so good. The feeling knowing everythings paid with your own hard earned cash is amazing. Learning to say no intially was hard but we are now used to it and even managing to save a little each month. Good luck with your process and keep posting. We found this site to be a lifeline at times xx

Hi Thifty, welcome to the forum, am new'ish to this myself but have heard very good things about Mel and her team. It is difficult to begin with when in an IVA but a good kind of difficult if that makes sense? at least you know whatever you buy is paid for. Take care

Thrifty,

Welcome to the forum.

You have made a wise choice in running with Melanie. Rest assured your nerves are normal for someone with a pulse. There will be highs, and lows. Lots of letters and annoying phone calls, but hopeflly the outcome will be right.
Ensure you use the forum to vent your spleen - it helps.

Good luck with your journey.

Thank you Sinking Fast. I scared about not paying my creditors next month. We have some rent arrears which we have to clear as priority so the rest will have to whistle for it now! :-(
Scares the hell out of me as up until now we have paid everyone (ok quite a few late payments but everyone got paid) the mess has been created by then having no choice but to buy food/fuel etc on credit cards as we pray for pay day....only to go right back round the vicious circle again! We never budgeted (or couldn't) for car MOT's, tax etc, so that all went on the plastic [:(] Something needs to be done! So I will wait on the calls in a couple of weeks time, they will either get me in a good mood or bad won't they!
