Drowning-mummy

I'm sorry you're getting bombarded with phone calls, no wonder you're fed up with it. Is there any way you could change your phone number? We went back to BT recently and had to change our number, we never got round to telling our creditors the new number.
Hope you all enjoyed your chips in the park. I'm sure your daughter will be happy whatever you do for her birthday, and once it's all over you'll be able to spoil the kids rotten - that's my plan as my daughter will be 6 by then (as long as all is approved that is). We're also at the same stage as you, we've just got to wait for a few documents to arrive and then i can get them to Angela asap.

Take care Cath xxx

The thing I am finding difficult is that my 12 year old is now into activities at guides and school for which there is hardly anything in the budget - not sure how much the allowance is but something like 10 pounds I think. Anyway I do not expect her to not be able to do things like Guide Camp so I am just paying out of the housekeeping which leaves us less to eat on. I don't want her to know we have problems.

Hi Elizabeth. I fully understand what you are saying as the poor kids need to live, its not their fault. You mention that your daughter doesn't know about your problems; my son didn't until last week. He wanted to 'sub' some money to buy an X Box and pay us back from his paper round money weekly. I told him that I couldn't afford to lend it to him, to which he replied - 'Why are we scrimping and scraping all of a sudden?' This was my opportunity to be up front with him and explain in simple terms without too much detail that we have a few money worries and things won't be coming as easily from now on as we need to watch the pennies. He is 14 so a little older than your daughter. His reaction was the opposite to what I expected. First he looked worried, but then said he would do all he could to help (especially around the house), thus giving me more time to cook proper meals and stop eating take-aways which cost a fortune. He didn't ask once through the week for any money and has started saving his wages for his X Box. I didn't want to worry him by telling him, but he has been very understanding and I don't now feel guilty for saying 'NO'. He even cooked a curry for tea tonight and it was gorgeous - amazing! Kazzy x

I have actually responded to the "why are we poor" by saying we always have been its just that we always put things on credit cards which is the wrong way and now we are doing it the right way by saving for what we want.

Elizabeth, you are dead right. My son will appreciate his x box much more if he saves hard for it. It will be worth it. I am loving using CASH and its teaching me already to be very careful. Sounds strange, but I am quite enjoying it as I feel in control at the mo. Kazzy x

Michael - I am worried about you. It will all be ok, try not to fall out - you need each other to get you through these times. Kazzy x
