Hi all, I wonder if you can help. I had a full & final settlement accepted in November 2013 after starting my IVA in 2010. I was on the day informed (by phone) of acceptance and a creditor modification for GT only at the time, stipulating that GT needed to close the account within 90 days - I also have this in writing from them. However being aware of the current delays with certs/closures etc.(but being willing to be patient) I contacted GT just to get a rough idea of how long things (in weeks/months) were taking so that I had it in writing.
I was therefore very shocked to get the response below last week from GT (1) because I was not aware of any rejected Mass Variations (2) I had always been told that the Mass Variations had been sorted despite having been chased multiple times after submitting the paperwork a thousand times & getting an official apology, they never said it was rejected (3)I can't believe that I and I'm sure 100+ others have not been written to and informed about this?
So has anyone else been informed of this in writing as this will affect more than just me I am sure? I really think anyone with GT who are with the 'Closures Team' needs to check where they stand re: the Mass Variations.
I did immediately write to them reminding them that I have it in writing and it say's otherwise.....and surprise....no one has come back to me yet!

"I can confirm that your case passed our closure review process on 2 December 2013 and has now been passed to our closures department.

The closure process typically takes 6 months and the specific modification in your Variation Chairman's report also states this timescale, so you should expect your closure documents in June 2014.

However your Mass Variation meeting was rejected by your creditors on 17 September 2013 so the ongoing PPI issue could delay your closure further."

Has anyone else with GT been informed of this?

The Mass Variation was probably rejected because it didn't simply deal with PPI -- GT was using them as a vehicle to increase their fees, which the creditors probably didn't like.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I'd be interested to know on what grounds your meeting was rejected - as I had assumed that these had all gone through "on the nod".

Hmmmm Interesting. Not had that letter at all. I paid over the last payment on Dec 3rd and told that my I&E will be done and passed to closures once they get the ok. Not happy there may be a delay even further as I am relying on a timely closure.
I don't normally complain but if this goes on and on, I will make an official complaint. Seems like GT have more flaws that come out of the woodwork every week on here.
IVA completed!!! Looking forward to getting my life back! Stay positive and you'll get there in the end.

Yes very interesting. Still shocked as I neither received a letter, email, text nothing about this 'rejected' mass variation meeting held in September, especially when you consider how hotly they pursued me to agree to it!
My F&F was only a few days prior to yours Helpless121 so I would double check if I was you. @Foggy, thanks for your contribution (as always). Well I thought PPI was the main reason for the variation...who knows now?
@Melanie I thought it had all gone through on the nod also, that is certainly the impression I had been given. And just to think that I only found out and got that response from GT because I simply enquired about my closure time-line..shocking really when you think about it!!
Moreover, I am still awaiting a reply from GT about what exactly was rejected and what is their next plan of action with regard to this. Grrrrrrr ... I would welcome a response from someone @GT on this forum if anyone is about?

I'll check with them as soon as I've had back the report from them re my final I&E. I have to say its concerning and I don't understand how these decisions are made about OUR IVA's without any info what so ever. Its a hard thing to understand at the best of times but this has confused the hell out of me.
I too would like to now if there is a GT rep here who can shed some light on what is happening. It would be very much be appreciated by the many clients of GT, I'm sure.

I agree, I don't know how these decisions are made without our knowledge either - I never even knew it was being held in September. So I really would be interested to hear from other GT clients (existing or otherwise) to know if:
1)they ever knew their Mass Variation meeting date
2)If they were informed of any rejections/outcomes
This is worrying, particularly as I do not know what it means for me or anyone else who are in an existing IVA. And before anyone suggests it YES I have tried contacting GT and have not had a response yet.....so what do I do next??

Hi -- there appears to be a communications blackout from GT in general. Karol, the Customer Service Manager, has not posted for a while, yet I understand still keeps an eye on the forum.

The general feeling I get is that no-one was told about when their meeting was to be held, nor the outcome afterwards.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I don't see how a creditors meeting can take place either without the knowledge of the person who has the IVA, or how they cannot be advised of the outcome. These matters are covered by statute, best practice and contract law at the end of the day.

Melanie after all this time are you still surprised at GT's practises?? unfortunately they make thier own rules because they know none will challenge them legally as thier clients cant afford the luxury of legal action.
Time to end of IVA 0 days
Time to end of GT dealing with it...CC recieved after a battle royal !!

I agree Viperboyz, I really am at a loss as to what to do...<sigh>. No one will come back to me.
Again I put it to any GT clients out there:
1 Was you ever written to and given your Mass Variation meeting date, for information purposes.
2)Were you subsequently informed of any rejections/outcomes
On one hand I feel that I should keep quiet and just wait a year or so for my CC, afterall my IVA is finished? BUT on the other hand I think why should I and anyone else still in a IVA with GT put up with this non-communication? I just feel soooo vulnerable & taken advantage of just because I made the mistake of getting into debt and being transferred (without my knowledge) to GT from Tenon, this is the only reason I can think of for such bad customer service.
To balance things and to be fair though I have had some wonderful interactions with some members of staff at GT...so it must just be their 'system'.
I would bet my life that GT respond to their wealthy Accountancy & Taxation clients in a timely manner- without delay!....oh well...rant over!

Hi Boxochocs, I'm a GT Client and signed the paperwork back in March or April. I've not heard a word since from GT. I have no idea if or when the variation meeting happened, keep meaning to call them about it but not got around to it yet.

I received a phonecall from the PPI company around May time asking me to confirm details of creditors, which I did, but haven't heard from them anymore either. I'm guessing nothing has happened since as I've not had any letters from creditors.

My 5 years are up next September but I also have the equity release clause so will probably not finish until September 2015 and I'm hoping it will be sorted by then!

We are GT clients, we were in the mass Variation in May I only found out because I had to contact regarding a PPI repayment made to hubby in August, and I asked, We were not informed when the meeting was or the outcome
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine

Thanks for your feedback Leese and Peejayel.

Well it looks like we (collectively) may have semi - answered Mel's question.... "I don't see how a creditors meeting can take place either without the knowledge of the person who has the IVA, or how they cannot be advised of the outcome"....Well it looks like GT can as they seem to be a law unto themselves.
Seriously, anyone completing or in an IVA with GT needs to be concerned because it appears that very few of us actually know how PPI will be treated (inc. if the 8% will be paid out to us as promised).... AND when completed IVAs can/will truthfully be closed!! Very worrying. PS. Still no reply today from GT so I have sent another email to them.
