Elv - my apologies, I've only just seen your post at the top of the page.

I shall certainly bear that in mind as I have heard it is lovely there.

I have my brochures, and as soon as we decide what is happening and whether we can afford it I shall be planning our itinerary!

All interesting and fascinating suggestions and ideas from all you guys/gals as to where to go, when to go (not time of year!) - fabulous reading. Love also some of your experiences!! [:D][:D]

If we do go, it will be at the beginning of September, so I hope we have some nice weather then!

Kallis, Bishop Auckland near Durham is lovely. My brother in law has a caravan there on a small site but the area is lovely.

If we manage to go, I shall be having a good look round the area. Thanks for the pointers.

13 nights camping over four different periods between May and September...the tent is ready as is all the stuff we need...all we need is to set up and chill out....the £5 wine box is ready, and the BBQ charcoal is ready........can't wait......total cost for 13 nights £200 !!!! Food will be no more than what we would have at home, fuel will be what we would spend to get to work.....can't wait.

haven are doing a promotion for 2010. 25% off in school holidays and 50% off rest of weeks. You can have 3, 4 or 7 days but you need to call the park direct.

Camping is my idea of hell.

I have to have my mod cons these days.

we were thinking camping might be an option for us whilst the iva is in place for next 5 years. Not sure if The Mrs will like it she has never been before.

I have been camping, and I hated it!

Give me a nice hotel or B&B any day.

We have been camping and it's surprisingly expensive! We had a nice site but not exactly brimming with facilities and it cost £11 per night for the tent and first 2 adults. We then had an extra £2 per night for our son and a further £2 per night for a dog. Then once we went to the toilet block, there was a further £1 required to use the showers [}:)]

I love the outdoors as do our two mutts Image but when it comes to paying for them to sleep in a tent, then we may have to leave them at home this year [:(!]

Looks like next time we will be holidaying at dog friendly relatives [:D]
