Now I'm officially protected by IVA I can now apply for a 0% Platinum MBNA Credit Card - not only is it 0% but it is 0% until sept 2009! What a great deal - I think NOT [:D][:D] Never again!

I love the fact that I can hit delete on the keyboard [}:)]

We also had a call from Mercers this morning - She put the phone down - I swear I was nice I just said we were now in IVA and I was not obliged to discuss my finances with them anymore. It felt so good! I bet they hate that........... [:D][:D]

This is amazing but true i know. It seems unbelievable that credit would be offered to people who are either bankrupt or in IVA's but there are still examples of this happening.

I am aware of cases where such borrowing has gone on during an IVA for some time before being discovered, but of course when it was the client's IVA failed and things got a whole lot worse.

Well done for resisting temptation here, i wonder what a person would need to do to be noticed as someone who should not be offered credit - maybe a big flag??!

Surely if you applied for one of these cards they would refuse you? Your credit rating is shot to pieces and it would be totally irresponsible of them if they did.

If you did have one of these cards, how would your IP know about it if you didn't either use the card or were able to pay the monthly payments?

I assume the credit limit wouldn't be great.

It is strange but true in some cases.

Most i am sure would be refused and really it would be the height of stupidity for someone to risk it after all the stress and work that goes into getting the IVA accepted in the first place.

If there are any genuine concerns over expenditure where someone feels they need more money the very first port of call is always your insolvency practitioner managing your IVA.

Ultimately if the creditors are going to write off a large amount of debt, it is a person's responsibility to be honest and open as well as offering as much as they can during the term of the IVA.
