I eventually received a reply from GT today in response to yet another e mail asking for answers to where is our certificate. It is now 26 months since last payment and creditors agreed for closure in May. I can not believe that their excuse is still the same as it was way back in December that our funds have been allocated wrongly and they are waiting for money back . What have they done since then?Apparently this transfer of funds may happen on the 20th as this only happens once a month and then it will be 3/4 weeks before our certificate can be issued. I am totally lost for words and so angry. We are still being fobbed off with more excuses. If anyone with any clout from GT reads this post I would appreciate some help . I am not holding my breath though

26 months is way too long and so unfair on you. I sincerely hope Karol can help with escalating getting your case closed. Not fair at all.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I too have been told my monies should be transferred this month and that I should get my completion certificate by mid to late August. This is after the MVM in May and being told I would get my completion certificate by the end of June.
It was a bit frustrating to read about other people in here who had MVM in May and did get their certificates in June...

When you hear that some people with other IPs get completion certificates within a matter of weeks of making their final payments and GT take nearly that long to do admin right at the end it does make you wonder exactly what they are doing.
Paid F&F in July 2012 and received CC in July 2013 :-)

Yes I agree . When you read of certificates being issued quickly your heart sinks a bit further although happy for those people. I do wonder what the closure team have done over the past 2 years and surely if money has been wrongly allocated then why should we have to suffer. Their book of excuses must be so thick.

At the very least, and especially in light of the glaring fact that none of the delay is down to the client and all to do with their own inadequate systems, they should release the debtor from all responsibilities under the IVA relating to windfalls ( lottery wins, inheritances and the like), in the same way as many other IP's do.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

As you know Geordie123, I did escalate your complaint to the second in command at GT who assured me that he would look into this personally for you, which I am sure he did. There must be something even out of his hands which is not immediately apparent as to why your case cannot be closed.

We did appreciate you trying to help us Melanie . We wil wait and see what happens on the 20th when distribution takes place. I still believe somewhere down the line it is this money that was wrongly allocated and still has not been returned . Plus the PPI issue which hopefully has been sorted for us. We have it in writing that we have paid everything owed and complied with all requests and see no reason why closure should be an issue and that we were back with the closure team , but that was back in May. What bugs us is their excuses . If they were open and honest and kept up communication we would accept the delay and enjoy our debt free life but what is a concern is we are still under the rules of an iva and can not do something as simple as have a savings account with our bank .

Hi Geordie, roll on the 20th.

AS you say communcation is key. Most people can accept delays and problems if they are kept up to date and being told the facts (where possible!).

Hope you get some positive news soon.

Melanie kindly stepped in and I am sure she has enough to do with her own clients without having disgruntled GT clients to deal with but even when she contacted a senior member of staff on our behalf there was still this wall of silence . A simple explanation would have kept us happy for the time being

I've got no problem in trying to help anyone who needs help, and often I can take things to the top in most firms as I know the individuals concerned. I am only sorry, that my efforts on this occasion do not appear to have produced the desired result - but I have to say that it seems to be taking an incredible amount of time to sort the matter of mis-allocated funds out. This must have been going on for over two years now.

Melanie. The latest e mail said there had been an overpayment of fees which can happen automatically but they have requested a refund and then our certificate can be issued.
