That's the beauty of the paid for banking services, with the exception of thinkbanking, as long as they are able to identify you online, either through the electrol roll or through three simple credit check questions you get your account number and sort code there and then, and theres no need to please a bank manager!
You'll never convince me about paid for accounts unless I can't get anything else.
I prefer these days to sort my own budget out rather than letting somebody else sort it for me and I certainly can't justify or afford a monthly payment to keep my account going.
I like to let the wife sort out our banking - I know it will budgeted well and I can trust her to do it.
Good morning, well I rand HMRC at 8.40am this morning and got strait through! Gave my details and they said they will send the tax coding letter out to me, I asked how long before I receive it she said allow 2 weeks!!!!!!
I dont see how its not stringent checks if they get the electerol roll online (like coop and nationwide can do if you apply over the phone and online) or if they ask you about your credit record which only you should no the answer too (like t-mobile and orange do)
I think you are all being too negative about the paid for services and sometimes jam jar style banking is more suitable for people especially with its real time systems and seperated funds and sometimes not having direct debits is more appropriate too for some people. Just because you have an IVA, DMP or bankruptcy doesnt mean you have too bank with coop, natwest or yorkshire
No one is saying that you HAVE to bank with Co-op, Natwest or Yorkshire bank and I've always said each to their own. However, I would never recommend anyone had a paid account if they can get a free account - money is tight enough in an IVA without unnecessary expenditure.
One thing I don't understand though is how having someone 'manage' your money actually teaches you anything.
Tracey, Think Banking is £14.50 for a single account and £21.25 for a joint account. I don't know about the others but I'm sure Stu will be back to advise.
Tracey - I wonder if it's worth setting up a think banking account just to get things moving. I'm not sure if there's a minimum term to keep the account open tho.
Hi, Im going to see what Yorkshire bank says because their adviser said I should hear from them in a week, so that gives them til tues next week. Alternatively I'll wait for HMRC to send me the paperwork I need and then I'll take it to Co-op and see if that pleases them. Hopefully by this time next week I should have a bank account with one ov them if not I may have to explore other avenues. My wages are due in HSBC a week today so Im just gonna withdraw them straight away.
Hi CardOne is £12.50 or £17.00 for a joint account and secure trust is £12.50 both CardOne and Secure trust give you the details online as long as you can be identified and they can have the first months fee upfront

I spent a few days just withdrawing the max from the ATM when wages went into HSBC. Then I just took the cash to the PO to pay into the Co-op. Didn't have the guts to go into the branch!!! Good luck and I hope something is sorted soon hun.
