Tomatoes and lettuce grow well indoors as well as peppers and some small variety of carrots. You can use old ice-cream tubs and old 2 litre plastic bottles make great cloches if you need them. There is a lot of info on the web about indoor growing - and you'll have less pests to worry about too!
