as i understand the IP can use their discrection for things such as car credit (i know people who enter an iva with such credit not included in the iva)however until you recieve your certificate your still bound by the rules of the IVA and gaining credit without authorisation can be deemed as a breach even at this late stage.
Did you speak with your actual IP or the customer care team?!?

Hi Michelle. I think you should try and speak with your IP (not a caseworker) or contact Karol who posts on here. I cannot believe that something could not be done to assist you at this late stage afterall you appear to have fulfilled your obligations x
6-12 month wait is shocking!!! Even 6 months is bad enough!
I was with GT and needed to get a new car during my IVA, similar situation to you. They wouldn't allowed me to get credit to purchase a car but I was allowed to take out a long term lease. I used a company called Duncton (now Moneybarn) and took out a 4 year lease on a car I still have now. They were really good and will deliver the car to your doorstep. Downside is you have to put down a fair deposit and pay for delivery and admin charges. Think I had to put down approx £1,200 back in 2009. Monthly payment is £220. I did have to send Moneybarn proof that my IP was happy for me to take out the lease though.

IVA finished Oct 2011, CC received 27 April 2012, No longer on Insolvency Register 01 May 2012. Jan 2013 - all Credit Files squeaky clean
However i feel we have to echo what Andy says, its almost become a standard answer now for anyone who comes on the forum with a problem, we ask who there with and then direct them to usual Karol, Declan etc etc I have to admit im just as bad now, i don’t even bother ringing DFD after spending the best part of 2 years hanging on the phone, once i discovered a 'back door' i now only really contact DFD via Declan (despite his restraining order [;)])
I’ve said before I think its very unfair on customers that have to use this approach, if we look back over the last 6 months I would need to borrow others fingers and toes to count how many times Karol has dealt with issues that are raised via this forum after people post on here out of desperation (this thread make that point too!!)
It seems a real shame to think there are many out there in the same situation but un aware of these ‘back doors’ and sit on the phone or awaiting email to be returned due to poor customer service.

A good result for the OP but unfortunately another demonstration of how unhelpful the standard communication channels are when dealing with any issues relating to an IVA in the closure process.
It's not right that airing a problem publicly on here so often produces a different response a company.
It is a shame that this forum is usually the only way to get answers quickly! Good job we have it though else we'd all be going loopy!!
Maybe Declan and the other posters should encourage more of their colleagues to join to share the workload a bit!

Echo completely what Andy has said. IVA firms should be dealing with clients problems a lot more pro-actively without people with issues needing to air the laundry in public forums, as much as this public forum is much appreciated by all!
Communications difficulties happen in all firms - but I have to say I have treated it as a personal failure on the odd occasion when a client of mine has had to revert to the forum for action, and my whole team get a shake-up as a result. Whilst it is not brilliant to read persistent postings about less than satisfactory service, it does show the power of this forum and how it can actually change people's lives in a few keystrokes. Thank goodness it exists!
