I tried the nicotine patches for a while, they were really hard to light though.
You are supposed to put them over the mouth -- to prevent cigarettes from getting in !!!

varying ways of quitting on the thread and all worked for the posters. I'm glad I don't fancy one any more but now need to conquer the eating!

Glad it's going ok for you. I think all smoking aids will help if you are in the right frame of mind to give up. I always use stress as an excuse not to give up, starting the IVA, ending the IVA, ill health retirement application. All my excuses are running out now so I know I will have to tackle it. I did give up for 18 months and only restarted when I had a bad bout of sciatica and was banging my head against a wall in pain! How I wish I had resisted.

Carry on and try very very hard not to have one. Just having one does it for me I'm afraid although my Dad can smoke when I go to see him and then doesn't have one again until I go back a couple of months later.

Hey arty - just catching up well done u !

I gave up in June last year after finding out I was pregnant, i cut down while the shock sinked in then I went totally cold turkey! Its not easy at all! I was not a heavy smoker but problem was I liked smoking & it was my comfort when stressed or always went well with a glass of wine! I've quite before with my 2 previous pregnancies but I always restarted soon after they were born.
5 weeks after this one been born & I've still not picked up a cig! I can't say I don't think about it, but the biggest incentive to me now is that I don't want too. And that's the most important bit is that u want to quit. It has the added bonus of being financially better off too, the hubby quit with me & with the help of some shopping vouchers, savings & the savings we made from not buying cigarettes, we bought a new TV! I'm now planning what I'm going to buy next.

No idea if my story helps.... But it's so worth stopping x

No way am I going back Jan!

I really hate the smell now too, now I understand why they say xsmokers are the worst!

I'm had my first glass of wine at a meal & I'm very proud to say it didn't bother me! It was my biggest worry.
