Middle of December is plenty early enough for seasonal greetings. I'm sick of it already.

Same here Jan. I was asked on Friday if I'd like to take the company Christmas card home to sign. Needless to say I declined - if they want me to sign them I'll do them in their time, not mine!

Considering it was the Christmas party last night, no Christmas cards changed hands at all.

I've not even thought about writing mine at all yet. I'm not going shopping until next weekend.

It all starts far too early - follow the American route, nothing to do with Christmas until after Tbanksgiving. That gives you a month and that's just about right.

I've done most of my shopping, but only where I've seen good deals and can save money, not specifically going shopping.

We've still got last year's Christmas cards so we won't have to buy any, and I'll start writing them at the beginning of December.

Dave and I went for a walk this afternoon and saw quite a couple of houses with their trees up already - ridiculous!

We've got a house round the corner with the lights up, and another house I pass on the way to work, which goes way OTT with lights, has got them up, but they weren't on. What's the betting when I come home from my late shift on Tuesday that it will be all lit up?

It all goes on for far too long.

Ugh - that means my usually beautiful village will soon start having the flashing Santa's and reindeers handing from the rooves, dangling icicles and really nice proper trees in gardens looking like plastic models.

Hate it more every year. Humbug!!

I really, really hate the huge inflatable snowmen, Homer Simpsons etc that people have in their garden. I always want to stick a knife in them and watch them deflate!

They're fine as long as they not OTT and those snowmen sound OTT!

We've got some colour changing stars in the front window, my tree (this year with purple decorations) and some coloured lights around the fireplace.

I think Dave would be a proper Clark Griswald if he could, but thankfully our garden is tiny and the roof belongs to the girl in the maisonette upstairs!

They're only small & the kids adore dancing around to them.

I don't mind a few tasteful lights, and we have one string across the front of the house. We have the fibre optic tree and that's it.

Skippy, I loathe the inflatable things as well!

One thing that annoys me is the 'Santa Stop here' signs - fine up until Christmas Day, but they leave them out afterwards! Why?

The people up the road from us have an illuminated Christmas streetlight.

It gets tackier each year.

There is a house on the main road into Cardiff that gets worse every year. Last year it was counted that they had 143,000 lights in their garden. Absolutely hideous, and I would not like to have to pay their electric bills.

Before we moved there was a house like that a few roads along from us. I have to admit driving past it each year so that I could marvel at how hideous it was, and how it got worse each year!

I agree about the Santa stop here signs - I hate them anyway, and after Christmas it seems even worse!

One year Dave bought a set of net lights to put in the front window. We opened the box, and it was the size of a football net! We couldn't get them back in the box to take them back, so they've been gathering dust in my mum's loft ever since!

Must be great if you live by them though - you won't need your lights on at all!

Seriously I do get fed up of seeing the houses trying to outdo each other every year. The lights cost a fortune to buy in the first place and I'm surprised we don't get posters on here after Christmas saying they need to put an electric bill of a few thousand pounds into an IVA!
