I won't pay by telephone banking if I can help it - too much hassle!

Regarding varying DD's, I don't understand the difference between paying by DD or when the bill comes in. You still have to find the money whether it's by standing order or DD otherwise you'll be under paying.

If you budget for the highest amount for every DD then you will not have enough for the other budgets in the IVA and will have to wait until the end of the month before you know how much you got to spend on food that you need at the beginning of the month.

That's where allowances need to be realistic and take into account that some things will be more expensive. Mortgage, council tax, gas and electricity don't change each month, and the company should notify you within so many days that they are going to change.

but they will be realistic over a 12 month period and evened out. If you have to leave the highest amount in for each bill every month then another budget will need to fund it until you know the correct amounts.

you shouldn't have to pay extra to be in control of your money.

Which is why I pay by DD, and why I won't pay for a bank account while I can still get one free.

DD is not being in control of your money as it can be varied by the company drawing the DD without requiring your approval.

I can cancel the DD at any time, and if the company takes the wrong amount it has to be refunded by the bank.

Hi
They do have to give you notice, in writing, of any change and you can request a refund of a direct debit by your bank if it is taken in error. Your bank is duty bound to refund the amount into your account.

I realise that the bank can refund it but a DD for your phone will fluctuate and they dont write and tell you every time what the amount is.

I get a bill each month from Vodafone telling me how much it is and when they will take the money.
