My IVA finished in January but I have just paid the last of the arrears owed when unemployed. I had negative equity, so no re-mortgage. I paid a total £19,000 plus approx £5,000 from PPI claims off £33,000 of debts. So why do I feel like crying ...I feel drained...looking back over 5 years of uneventfulness. 5 years of declining invites to weddings, parties, short breaks, etc...unable to spoil 2 new grandchildren who arrived during IVA. Let's hope my "get up and go" re-surfaces because I think it got up and went long ago!!!

Congratulations JMK. don't look back, look forward to a new and much less stressful life. And treat yourself to something you haven't had for the last five years!
Life after IVA is wonderful.

Well done and I have the same feelings as you a few months on. Most people would think you would be very happy and celebrate but to me its not something to pat yourself on the back for. It was 5 years of avoiding awkward questions. My brother would ask me why have you not bought a new .... Why don't you do that anymore...... I looked at my bank balance and its the highest its been in 6 years as I been saving my iva I actually feel sick when I see it and have no desire to buy anything or do anything. That's coz I pushed all ideas of having anything just to get to them end of 5 years. I can now do what I want go where I want but right now I couldn't care less not how I
I thought I would feel. Plus waiting on PPI isn't helping me close the door on the iva .

I completed last week and got my certificate on monday. This is my first weekend of going out with friends and "living" again. its not nice not being able to afford a holiday but we have paid for our errors and now its looking forwards and not backwards!

I wish you al the best
Got married two months after i completed! Building my life back up again but still staying on here to support all those who helped me in my times of need!

I do hope you regain your get up and go and that you can celebrate in what you've achieved as believe me I for one know it isn't easy but the fact is we've done it.

wow cooltony that was a quick time to receive your certificate. within the IVA I took one month at a time and plodded my way through it. Now it's finished and I'm awaiting for my certificate would you believe I'm living one day at a time, checking the post and becoming anxious. On the 28th February will be my first payment that I can call my own so not even a full month has gone yet but I want that certificate which seems a bit ungrateful of me to be so anxious about it when considering I had one of the best IP's in the business but I still don't think I'll believe it's over until the certificate and I come off the register.

Do try and enjoy your debt freedom as I will eventually, we have repaid our creditors to the best of our ability and we've earned a fresh start.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
