Hi all,

I was just wondering how funding for fertility treatment is treated within an IVA, does this need to even be disclosed?

Hi Katie,

Where is the funding coming from? Are you paying for it yourself? If so then I think it will need to be disclosed to an IP.

If you are receiving funding for a specific purpose, I wouldn't think your iva would have an interest in it. Just let your IP know so youve crossed the Ts and dotted the Is. Good luck with the treatment x

Thanks for your replies,

The funding would be provided by our primary care trust(yet to apply, but as always the three letters IVA always pop into my head!)

Katie - the contract of payment is between the PCT and the provider - therefore you will not have anything to do with exchanges of funds

You should be ok then. I had funding for a gastric bypass just over three years ago and never even mentioned it.

Good luck with the IVF.

The IVA will have actually no call or interest in your IVF monies, neither should you have to declare your intent to your IP.

What a fabulous use of public money this is - one of my best friends just had a baby using the same treatment after 10 years of trying - what a joy and how life-transforming the process actually is - I sincerely wish you every luck with yours.
