I fully support the work that Melanie and the other work IP's on here do. I do not think it is touting for business at all. If someone chooses to give up their free time to help than so be it. I think you may be being too cynical, cynical!
My point was that it doesn't equate to being free time, when ultimately it generates business.

If you visit the JonesGiles website (again, we cannot put the link) you should be able to get contact details from there.
Regarding the above, please explain how this is not soliciting for work?

As opposed to someone ringing a call center, getting poor advice from unqualified staff, being put in a dmp with no chance of success only to end up bankrupt?
I know which I would rather have!

As I have stated I do not have any issue's with IVA's and fully support the use of these. My query was regarding posting on here for personal gain. Advice from any IP should be excellent advice and I am not attempting to deter anyone from seeking this, however it should also be impartial.

Hi cynical,

What would your definition of impartial be?

I am way into my IVA (nearly 4 years - hurrah!!!!) - and am NOT with Melanie Giles company. But I have learned a lot from her posts over the years. Nevertheless - I made my own choice when starting my IVA - but would just like to say that - obviously - we all decide with whom we wish to proceed - we are all adults and - one would hope !!! - well placed to decide with whom we wish to proceed.

That does not stop anyone appreciating the clearly excellent advice provided by Melanie - and the other professionals - on this site.

I am pleased that your IVA is working for you, as it does many other people. I appreciate the advice given to individuals such as yourself on this site can be seen as a lifeline. My point was that for someone facing the black hole of debt as many feel that it is, the suggestions of posters on this site as to who should propose their Arrangements are sometimes less than subtle and can be construed as soliciting for business. May I also add this is a generalisation based upon observation.

Hi cynical,
You`re entitled to your views.
I`ve been visiting and posting on this site for about eight months or so and one thing I`ve picked up on is how often Melanie gives advice to anybody at all sorts of God forsaken hours of the day, sometimes early hours of the morning. I`ve followed threads where clients of OTHER IP`s have had problems resolved with Melanie`s intervention/help...
I therefore tend to think that if Melanie does indeed gain `business` from this forum because people browsing and posting see how much she is willing to help, for no financial gain at all, then good luck to her.

Hello cynical-

I am with an "IVA Company" who used to receive some poor feedback on this site. I am very very happy with the service that they have provided to me. I am so looking forward to what - I hope - will be the completion of my IVA early in 2012.

You raise a good point - an IVA is a mega decision to make and it is important to settle with a company with whom you feel comfortable. One can only encourage people to contact as many companies as posible before committing (I was so lucky- but PLEASE make your own choice!!).

Cynical is not a genuine poster and appears under many guises on here.

Hi
No one is allowed to tout for business on this site and it is made clear to all experts that post on here. If a person requests info or contact than there is nothing wrong with the professional responding.

in praise of melaine she is a great help to all posters and whether or not she gets clients is down to her commitment to this site and she gives those of us desperate to seek advice in a very difficult time the upmost respect

I can assure you I am 100% geniuine and have not posted on here under any guise before however I do believe that your strong arm tactics in locking me out of here when I am stating an opinion is over zealous. Any challenge of opinion not made by a regular member of this forum is treated as not being genuine and clearly not allowed! This speaks volumes in itself!

I thought the ethos of this forum was to support each other in our journey to resolve our debt problems, if you cannot do this perhaps you are posting on the wrong forum

Genuine posters will always be welcomed on here, but posters whose sole aim is to knock IPs and other professionals on here will not be encouraged.
