This was sent to me by a friend, I hope it doesn't offend anyone. We do seem to forget the reason for the season.

Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.*
*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda..*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*
*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
* Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*
*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*
*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,
Not Happy Holiday !*
Please, all Christians join together and
Wish everyone you meet during the
Holidays a
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!

I'm not in the slightest bit religious, but I do think that the real meaning of Christmas has been forgotten.

A pet hate of mine is Christmas cards that don't actually mention Christmas!

Read this and as a practising Christian agreed with everything
then got to thinking about it and it is so sad that everyone else religion gets a higher place than mine yet we are supposed to be a 'Christian ' Country. Something out politicians and town halls seem to have forgotten.
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine

my sons school isnt as politically correct as some-the headteacher is a practising christian and the nativity play is as it was when i was at school in the 70s.Harvest festival-easter-all christian festivals are celebrated.Other religions are discussed at his school and my son finds these very interesting-but is christened as church of England and it is a C of E school. We live in Cumbria and their arent any minority groups in our town-in fact when we visit family in Manchester i really have to tell my son not to stare at people!!!It would be nice to have a larger cultural mix at his school as he does find other faiths fascinating- mind i never let him answer the front door because he always invites mormons and jehovas witnesses into the house!!I do prefer though that he does have an understanding of his faith and is taught the christian way.The school always organises trips out to church for christian festivals-i am not a practising christian in any sense of the word but am glad that my son understands his religion and knows the real meaning of christmas(doesnt stop him pestering for every boys toy on the planet though).
full and final accepted January 2015

iva agreed; August 2010
iva would have completed; August 2017

Andrea my daughters school is basically the same as your son's. we do have two families from different cultures and the kids join in everything we do...I don't think the parents are practicers of their own religions.

I have always had a sort of belief in 'Christ' and my daughter has been learning about god and obviously done her RE lessons. it can be quite difficult sometimes as she is still too young to understand that not everyone believes in God and despite trying to explain it we haven't done a very good job of it. My husband is a complete and utter NON believer, he has always said he's a Pagan LOL, because he used to do a martial art based in Viking mythology....so he read up on thor, sol etc., so he's taught our daugther that, and she and I talk about christ.

It can be very complicated in our household.

But I totally believe that in this country we are christian, if someone comes to live here with a different belief then I would love to learn about it, but that does not mean i am going to convert. Nor does it mean that I am going to deny celebrations of a christian nature.

Anyway rant over, sorry, its something that has annoyed me in the past. Unfortunately though, there are a lot of media hype over these types of subjects and it makes it worse for the majority of 'visitors'

It was a lovely play and I took lots of pictures of her and obviously she was the star part! lol.

Seriously can't post any pics on FB as I had to sign a disclaimer to even be able to take them! I've put them on one of my private dog forums as they won't even come up in a google search so feel I'm safe but sure I felt guilty showing my friends on there! x

That is ridiculous Lesley! I know children have to be protected, but it's got to the stage now where everyone is guilty of something. Children are going to grow up thinking that every adult is out to harm them, and while I understand the need to be careful, some of the things you hear about are just plain stupid.

I'm glad you had a good time, and sorry for the rant!

I'm totally with you on this one Skippy, the children were fully clothed and most covered head to toe in their Shepherd or Wise Men outfits bless em! If I were in a swimming pool I would have gone along with it but it's PC gone mad! My granddaughter was the Inn Keeper complete with tea-towel on her head!
