Hi and welcome.

Personal accounts are fine as long as you are selling your own goods. We all make a little doing this.

I've been reading the forum for some time - the advice here is wonderful and I hope to be able to contrubute in due course.

Yeah I have the same problem goosed. I've been listing for my sis as well so obviously used up my allocation (100 per 30 days they say). I have had a couple of people pay by postal order this week and I may opt for that in the future as it saves the Paypal cost.

In the paper today it said that HMRC are going to start taxing people who sell more than 100 items in a year on their personal account so get listing now guys before they start to hound us!!
I think u find u have to have a paypal account & paypal option to be able to sell.
And the HMRC bit is ridiculous! If we have bought these items then We have already paid our taxes on the money we earned & the vat! [}:)]
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

You do have to have a Paypal account and use that option but you can ask your customers to pay by other means if you wish. I always say that I prefer Paypal but will accept Postal Orders/Cheques/Bankers Drafts. You'll still pay fees anyway as it's on the sale I think, not the fact that you have used Paypal.

I think they are only using the magic 100 as a flag, if you regularly sell that amount, the chances are that you are operating as a small business ( buying stock to sell at a profit) and so should be paying tax on that. So they will check.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
