IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Make sure you've always got your chain on the door until you're sorted. Then if you acidentally answer the door to them just tell them you've already advised their office of the situation and you have nothing further to add. Then just shut the door.

Let them take it out on the knocker.

I suspect its an idle threat. Dont worry, if they do happen to turn up, remember they are only collectors not bailiffs. Just calmly explain the situation and give them the details of the IP acting for you.

Am I correct in thinking that there are only two categories of people who can venture on to your property (including the garden and your front door) the postman and the milkman?
I think the police, fire brigade, gas and water board all have right of entry, but they have to prove who they are, don't just take it as red that Joe Bloggs is from the water board, he could be a dodgy character too. Ask for their ID and check it with the number in the phone book! They can only ever enter if they have a reasonable cause to do so anyway, such as a crime in progress, fire or gas leak for example. Anything else I would expect a warrant to enter my property.

A collector came to my door out of the blue (I had been sent a letter but I had not opened it!) He said he had been sent on behalf of Barclays. I told him I had no money he then asked to come in to discuss things further. I was in a kind of shock but beginning to recover and told him (for the second time) that I had no disposable income so there was nothing to discuss. He then asked to come in to discuss my I&E! I could see where this was going so I told him I was not willing to discuss this with him on my doorstep or in my home but that I would meet anywhere else (Barclays were a greater than 25% creditor!) He said no it had to be in my home. I said no way was that happening and repeated that I would meet with him anywhere else. He left saying something like he would be in touch but I never heard from him again. In hindsight the conversation was the same as many I had had on the telephone i.e. trying to bully me into paying something/anything
My thanks to Melanie and her team :)

Never let them in, if they are bailiffs they can then start marking the goods as their own and can break in later on to collect them, but only if they have been let in in the first place.

If they have not been invited in in the first place they cannot do that!

had an email from payplan today reassuring me that they have spoken to mercers in person today and faxed over a copy of the proposal that they said they never received. mercers have now told payplan that the letter they sent me is now void because of the discussion they have had.[:)] a bit dissappointed as they now definatly have the proposal now and as such are in an informed position to vote next thursday, timing huh. lol[:p]

Hi Rollercoaster I have dealt with them and discovered that all their threats were never carried out. Eeven if they did turn up they have no legal authority just tell them to go away. It cost debt collections agencies to involve doorstep action and at this late stage of your case I would be most surprised if you get a knock at the door. good luck with the meeting try not worry.
