Just for anyone who is thinking of going into an IVA my advice unless your a professional with a large surplus income dont bother !
I got into debt after a period of ill health and despite adhering to all of my terms of the IVA they are delaying the closure. I paid my last payment 12 months ago and still no completetion certificate.. Its absolutley ridiculous !! I went with debt free direct and they have advised me that they will never send me a competition certificate unless I submit a claim for mis sold PPI. I have never been missold PPI .. I dont want closure to be delayed further and they are basically holding us ransom and unless we do agree for it to be investigated they wont complete it. As far as I can remember I never took ppi on the credit cards included in the IVA and what ever ppi I had 15 -20 years ago I took out because I wanted it! surely to say I was missold when I know I wasnt this would be a fraudulent claim. I really think these big companies need to governed alot better than they already are. All there after is the £1300 fee they charge for investigating, the creditors just want this done and dusted the same as us.

I disagree that people shouldn't bother with an IVA, they are an excellent debt remedy for many people.

I'm sorry that you are caught up in the closure delays, many people on here are in the same situation and I can imagine how frustrating it must be.

One question (and please don't take this the wrong way) - are you sure you weren't missold PPI? The reason I'm asking is that, while many people chose to take it out, it would never have covered them (due to their circumstances) if they tried to claim on it and this comes under mis-selling.

Hi Rachrew,

Sorry to hear of your troubles with regards to the completion of your IVA.

Unfortunatly, you are not alone with your concerns with regards to the PPI issues that are happening throughout the IVA world.

If you are sure you do not have any PPI, could you not compile a leter stating that, and expressing your concerns re fraud?
Even if a small amount does get found and credited to the IVA pot, this IVA has helped you with regards to your debts, and going 6 years to then be held up because of something like PPI, would be a shame.
Started IVA 27th Feb 2012 - Due to complete 27th Jan 2018 !!

Full & Final submitted and accepted 30th March 2015, paid 10th April 2015 - 3 yrs 1 month into IVA :)

Completion Certificate received- 30th April 2015!!

Hi Skippy, thanks for your reply yes Im sure !
Ive took legal advice and I have sent a legal statement of fact to debt free direct stating I having never been mis sold ppi have not and will not be pursing claims. Whether they take any notice of this or not I dont know as they seem to make rules up as they go along

Lots of posts about the ppi and I'm almost certain I've never been missold ppi too as I never signed anything I didn't want.

Having said all that an IVA is an excellent debt remedy for some, not all admittedly but a good IP will discuss your options with you at the outset and although an IVA isn't for all there are other remedies.

Hope you get that certificate very soon.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I'm afraid that I have to disagree as well. An IVA has worked perfectly well for us.

Sorry you are having problems but a lot of people are experiencing the same at the moment.

On the plus side - you have had a lot of your debt written off.

I certainly can feel your frustration 100%, I've said many times on the forum how unfair it is that some IP's close swiftly and others take an age...I've this weeks payment as you can see and one more and then I'm hoping for a speedy closure, time will tell...

Sincerely hope you get the closure you rightly deserve after completing your IVA very soon. x

I don't see how being professional with large disposable incomes will in any way change that situation - You'll still be subject to the same closure delays regardless of job title and salary.
IVA Completed!

Final payment made November 2011.

CoC received 12/10/12.

Hi thanks Lesley, beleive me I dont come on here talking about my affairs easily but I really am at the end of my tether so okay lets says I sign forms send them off and equity in finance write to all of my creditors ...they each take time to go away and investigate bearing in mind these accounts are no longer active I cant even remember who my creditors were let alone if I had PPI on them. They take weeks / months/ years to come back and reply ..........

Your anonymous on here so don't worry about talking about your affairs.

If you let them do it at least the ball is rolling and you've nothing to lose if they're not sending your case to closure and not sure how long the process takes but hopefully another poster who has experience of this will come along to advise. x
