I am on a DMP at the moment so have, therefore, changed bank accounts. Had to leave lloydstsb because its my main creditor. Now I am awaiting my creditors meeting ( aug 24th) for an IVA. My current account is with abbey and they are not one of my creditors. Will they be informed of my IVA if it is successfull, and if so do I need to have another account just incase they close it down?

Hi jasperyogi
It may depend on the type of account you have it should be just a basic with no credit attached (overdraft, cheque book)debit card is ok as long as it wont let you go over.As for informing them I dont see that you need to but if you are worried they may close the account I would ring them and check to save any problem in the future at least you can open another account which is ok.#

I was with Lloyds TSB and as they weren't one of my creditors I could keep the account, including the chequebook and debit card. If you're with Abbey you should be ok as they are one of the few to accept undischarged bankrupts so you should be fine with an IVA!

There is no need to inform your bank if your account is in credit.
