It's not so bad for me now I have the Cashplus card. I work fairly close to an Asda so can do a detour to get fuel from there. It's by far the cheapest near me.

BP is only 2p dearer than Tesco, so it's not worth my while to make a special journey, and we don't have an Asda petrol station anywhere near us unfortunately.

Our Tesco is only half a mile from us but isn't one of the cheapest. We do use it though when we're running on fumes.

I have been an avid collector of clubcard points for years, I did manage to pay for a complete holiday with them. I no longer think its worth while, I've been using my last lots of tokens for days out vouchers, castles theme parks etc. Once the next lot of vouchers arrive I will probably use them for restaurant vouchers, a nice meal before christmas. After that I think I'll switch to Asda, its cheaper, I shop online anyway so the distance to the store doesn't matter.

Mine are usually used to get the booze for Christmas. Food is from Asda as we get 10% discount. Never use online shopping - I like to have a look round.

Having said that, it was hell on earth this week and we got in and out as soon as we possibly could!

They have adjusted the tesco points down to x3 so they can keep the double points scheme running, the idea is not to remove double points, so in thoery still better off as if they removed double points you would only get x4 from the partners but with double points you actually get 2 points to the pound and then x3 from the partners. I think that makes sense?? the big problem i have with the devalue is petrol they have halved it to 1 point for every £2, not happy about that one!!

The problem antm is that you can never get serious points from normal spend (even at 2points per pound). The only real way to collect points is from items on special points promotions. So for me the x3 still a major devaluation.

For example you can spend £1000 over 4 months and get 2000 points. (Which is not much). Or you can buy 4 ink catrudges for £40 each and get 500pt bonus (=2000pts). Sell them back on ebay for £35 and for £20 you used to have £80 in vouchers.

I'm actually quite happy with the amount I get for my shopping, especially as I don't do my main shopping there.

Must admit that I would never (and certainly couldn't afford to) do something like buying the cartridges. For one thing I'd be out of pocket - not an option on an IVA, and I certainly wouldn't do it just to get extra points!.

I admit to being a bit naughty sometimes by picking up receipts with points on and having them put on my account!

I agree you don't build up many points on normal shopping, its the extras. They sometimes give extra 50 points on a particular brand of shampoo for example, so the double points bit makes no difference, but dropping from 4x to 3x makes a big diffrence.

I've never bothered with using my points for anything other than normal shopping so it's never really bothered me with them dropping points. Same with Nectar points and Boots Advantage points. I collect them when I shop there but don't go out of my way to get more.

I'm actually grateful that some stores give points. Asda used to but stopped. I don't suppose it would take much for the others to stop it as well.

That's one of the reasons I don't shop at Asda - it's not local and as they don't give any points it's not worth my while.

I get the discount so it's worth it for me.

Do You know you can convert Tesco points to "Airmiles" as well as getting Airmiles on paint/funiture etc - using the e shopping.

To sign up to Airmiles is free.
