Hi May and welcome to the forum. It sounds to me that you have failed the O2 credit cheque, which would most likely be because of your IVA. Unless you want to change to pay as you go you'd be better to stick with Vodafone for the duration of your IVA.

Hi May, and welcome from me too.

A Skippy says, you will have failed their check. As you are in an IVA, your credit rating will be shot to pieces.

You will have to stick with Vodaphone.

I would agree. I cant get a new contract now and im not in an IVA yet so i would say that was the reason. I will have to stick with my T mobile contract for some time.
Steve.

IVA approved!

And of course if you don't pay your bill, they can terminate your contract anyway!

Just a bit of advice. If you deal directly with O2 you will not pass the credit check. (I tried and failed) However if you go in to a CPW store (carphone) they run their own billing and credit check side of things for O2. There is more chance that you will pass a credit check with them.. . They sell the IPhone butit is credit checked by O2 directly. However there is more chance of getting a normal contract phone from them

I would have thought that credit checks for anywhere once you are in an IVA would result in you being turned down.

Yes me too, I wouldnt even try to get another contract mobile phone, I have been with o2 for seven years and they just renew my contract each time. They always get the money so I guess they dont bother checking now. I always get a few butterflies though when I have to renew it, just in case.

Why change from vodaphone to O2, I changed mine from O2 to Orange and are miles better before my IVA.
I will stick with Orange due to my IVA as i know i wouldn't be able to get another Supplier until my IVA is totally over with.
I have got an excellent phone with them and does me grand!!.
I guess your after the I phone which is only supplied by 02.

The reason I said try CPWs O2 service is that quite often it will come up as a referral . This means a human will look at your credit file and not a machine which just looks at your score. CPW gave me a contract last year whilst I was in my IVA.
If you plan to stay with your current provider dont just renew your plan. If you wait till you are out of contract and then tell them you are going to leave they will sometimes give you far better offers. Have just done this for my wife with Orange. I managed to get about 4 hours of talk and unlimited texts and a new phone for £10.00pm. Tell them what youwant and how much you are happy to pay for it.

I think you were probably just lucky there.

I will be sticking with O2 as I am more than happy with the service, but when my contract comes up next August, I will more than likely just carry on without renewing. I would hate them to terminate my account.

hi i used to do credit agreements at a large retail store , and a referral normally happens when the info on screen at credit centre doesnt quite match with the info given by customer (have seen most referals to be rejected but a few where accepted normally when people had recently moved ) yes an underwriter checks the info
as to 02 i ve been with them for 8 yrs and my contract was up for renewal and was going to cancel so got put thru to retentions and now both mine and hubbys phones are £10 a mth each and i also got £200 credit on my bill so will not have money taken out until april but the money freed theres covering my electric bill leap from £30 to £70 a mnth
