Hi sjw and welcome to the forum

You will need to look to the contractual information that you signed at the time you took out the insurance to see if you are liable.

I'm not sure that an automatic renewal when cover had been found elsewhere could be considered to be "Treating Customers Fairly" - an FSA requirement of insurers.

Admiral will want payment if they assume that they held the risk during the period after your policy expired. I suspect if you can demonstrate that you were "on cover" with another insurer once your orignal policy expired the collection agency will quietly drop the matter. If they do not then contact Admiral directly to resolve it with them.

Hi
I have noticed this with my own insurance, they will automatically renew if you do not advie them.Even cancelling the DD is not good enough.
I suggest a letter to Admiral with a copy of your new insurance,as suggested by Andrew
