Before my IVA, I was in debt management but now I am debt free. Spent the weekend filing all the correspondence and noticed that on about five of my accounts I had PPI Insurance. On the advice of the Debt Management team I had contacted the various organisations/banks and cancelled the PPI but did not ask for a refund. Maybe If I had opted for a refund/interest prior to entering into my IVA, my debt would have been reduced substantially.

Nevertheless, while doing the filing, I also came across details of a loan that I had taken out in 2001 and paid off in 2006. Looking at the total amount that was repaid, I suspect that PPI was also included in the loan.

Please advise what are my options for reclaiming the PPI element plus interest bearing in mind that my F&F was recently accepted.

Thanks in advance for your comments/views which will be appreciaited.

Hello Cheryl.54.

You don't mention why you believe the PPI was mis-sold to you, perhaps because you're unsure whether it was indeed sold to you at all.

Irrespective of any implications connected to the IVA, there should be clear evidence of mis-selling for you to contemplate a claim being made.

Over the years we've had loans and cards (obviously LOL) and always ticked the box for PPI as we knew that it might be needed. Although a lot of the time we don't necessarily get it explained it is something that most people need. I think its mainly for the times when its people getting loans for the first time and have no idea what PPI is, those are the mis-solds.

I'm so glad that I have never had this - as nothing on there would have done me any good, I always refused it.

It should tell you in your loan details whether you have paid PPI Cheryl. Personally, I'd be inclined to forget about it now.
