I'm not sure about DFD but I would recommend Melanie Giles from this forum. She has had fantastic reviews and certainly knows what she is doing.
37 payments made, 23 to go.

I personally would suggest looking for some one, who can give you the personal attention that your situation deserves, are you going to get that from a massive company?

I agree with mikebdomain check out a few smaller companies and check Melanie Giles. We went with a larger firm and whilst they were good with setting it all up their standard of service and level of communication has slipped.

Nothing wrong with DFD, they are making money so they are here to stay not like these other IVA fims going BUST with one IP doing ten jobs at once.

Clearstart is also a good IVA firm, you can try them as they part of DFD now.

Don't sound negative on any company unless you have experienced them.

Hi Alexprison

I think all the advice here points to one thing - try and get some impartial advice on your choice of IVA provider. You could try ringing the National Debtline, who would not only have a look through your situation, but also recommend an IVA provider for you. The same goes for the CAB if you can get an appointment.

Are you sure an IVA is the correct route - what advice have you received already? There may be alternatives such as a free debt management plan with either Payplan or the CCCS - if this is not suitable then they can also advise on IVAs.

iva.com, as leybridge ltd suggest will provide you with reviews from people who have had exposure to IVA sector - so this could prove very useful.

In the end, whatever you choose to do will be determined by how comfortable you feel with the advice given and whether there is trust and rapport built between you and a potential IP.

Finally - as stated above - BEWARE UP-FRONT FEES - and stay well away!

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards
Bernadebt

Thanks, IVA seems to be best course of action, DFD have no upfront fees and the woman dealing with me seems informative and helpfull. Just need to decide before i commit to anything

You have to go with what you feel happy with and be realistic with your income & expenditure and what you can afford.

They contacted me within 40 minutes of my acceptance. I GIVE THEM 10/10

i'm with DFD and found they were great origionally...now, I find them alot less helpful. I wish i had went with a smaller company or an independant IP cause then the process would be alot more personal...I can never get to speak to the same person twice at DFD!

Hi there my husband and i used Spencer Hayes originally but were unable to help us so they forwarded our case to Simple debt solutions and they were fabulous, the IVA run smoothly, the remortgage company we used were recommended by these people and were ver professional and no upfront fees! and we recevied our completeion certificate Sept 2007.

DFD and Clearstart have formed a business partnership..the latter was brought up for 10M So if anyone is keen on a smaller company try Clearstart.

I find that having a good case working drafting your HISTORY etc is inportant. The IP only reads it like an examiner and gives it either a thumbs up or down.

I too originally went through Spencer Hays and they were great ... they introduced me to McCambridge Duffy who were also great. There does seem to be general consensus though that these firms are very communicative whilst the IVA is going through and then tend to retreat into their ivory towers once it has been completed.
