After raving about how good debt free direct have always been with us, I finally have a complaint. Before going on maternity leave with my second child I agreed with DFD to have a payment break for oct09 then reduced payments for 9 months until I returned to work. Everything ran smoothly, until today. I get home to find a letter to say dfd had been trying to contact me and I urgently needed to call them to avoid breaching my iva. On calling them I was told that I was in breach of my iva as I should have increased my payments again as of last month.I explained to them that actually I had a payment break of Oct09 then 8 months reduced contributions, therefore my contributions return to normal in july10. Once they had again double checked what I had said they agreed that actually I was right. No apology just 'oh, I'll let them know'. Luckily I am now over the top organised and knew I was right otherwise I'd have got myself in a right state about this. Just a note to all to check and check and check again any correspondence you are unsure of.
Hi Martha
On behalf of DFD and my colleagues I would like to apologise for this error and the obvious stress and anxiety it has caused. A silly mistake which I hope will not happen again.
