Not our sector as most of you on here are aware (mind you we would probably have won something if we could enter:)
Seriously and not withstanding any of the posts on here, congratulations to David Mond and the other winners on the night.
We have posted this as we were given fair coverage on here when we were successful with our award earlier in the year - it should not be taken as favouring any individual company (nothing changes at NEDCAB)
PS - go easy on any suggestions on what we might or 'wudda' won or it might start one of those heated type of debates again:)
Was thinking the same Arty!, it all seems a bit fake to be honest, while I have no quarrel with any of the IP's at all, I am quite often at work in the early hours of the morning, go hours and hours without a break, let alone the chance to sit down and catch my breath and don't leave work while beyond 9pm either and am utterly dedicated to my job, I don't think staying at work beyond your contracted hours in itself means you are hardworking and dedicated, it's the quality of the work you do while you are there that counts.
But, that aside, I find all these kind of awards a little bit crass really, each to their own I guess
Sorry I really can't understand the need for negative comments on this thread.
Every year a lot of businesses hold award ceremonies to acknowledge the hard work of their staff and to show case the very best...in this instance the insolvency field have decided David is just that...I say well done to David and to those nominated !
In all walks of life different people experience different attitudes...I am sure all of us commenting on this thread have people that like us and people that don't....at the end of the day each of us are different and we should respect that.
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt
There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !

It's nothing against the IP's, I feel any awards like the above are nepotistic! Especially if that industry is customer led and the Amin source of income for which ever company or industry it is.

heretoday you have my full support in your comments
Lets not forget the clients of both Cleardebt like yourself and the rest of us with other IVA companies, that are recieving neither the service or progress we should deserve.
The forum would be the golden opportunity for cleardebt to address your issues and not only leave you a happy bunny, but would have them seen in a better light.
Granted im not in the posession of the issues you have, but I see your unhappiness as a lost opportunity for cleardebt to be seen in a better light

Luluj I don't think it was negative, it's good to have differnt views.
We on the one hand at the sharp end of the IVA where it cuts the deepest and at the other end, the drivers of such devices, on self congratulatory golden globe awards night out. On balance the thread itself may have been a tadge insensitive, when some clients are suffering at the hand’s of their IP’s.
The closure thing need’s to be addressed before awards are given out maybe possibly…I’m just saying, don’t tell me off, just an observation, I’m sure most IP’s want rid of the things after five years too..But tell me how once stuck in the slowly grinding wheel of the FOS, there’s no way out is there for IP or client?
If David Mond truly deserves that award then good luck to him and congratulations as well. I have no knowledge of him other than his replies to Heretoday which in truth I thought were less than impressive. However it must be difficult on a forum such as this where you can only say a limited amount without the express consent of your client.
For me though, an industry that congratulates Harrington Brooks, and therefore by default, the odious sales activities of its wholly owned subsidiary, undermines itself and makes the awards worthless.
I think a few people have been very negative on this thread so I agree with Liz to a point but I stand by my thoughts that I think awards that are self nominated internally so to speak are quite vulgar actually, it's like the oscars and the baftas to the other extreme, it's not the public that vote but industry insiders, any customer focussed business should award based on their customer opinions not on each other just giving themselves a pat on the back when the people that actually pay their wages don't get a say at all.
But then saying that as a nurse that works damned hard in very difficult conditions, if we held award ceremonies the taxpayer would be soon be complaining about the money we were wasting that should be spent on patient care so you can possibly understand why I hold this view.
I think personal insults on this thread is a little below the belt though and those complaints should be targeted elsewhere, but if we're discussing our thoughts on whether we think these kind of awards are appropriately justified or not then what is so wrong with people discussing this even if that means they hold a negative view?
How i felt a sigh of relief when i read your posts, as i thought I may have been verbally linched by others.
Bradders, i completely agree with the replies you mention that where " less than impressive " and i congratulate you for your eloquent , diplomatic descripion as I share your view. I was incensed at one of the replies to heretoday on a previous occasion
Sponge , your last post was superb and again well written.
Forums have both advantages and disadvantages and im sure none of us meant the comments as a personal attack, but then again we are lucky to be able to vent our frustrations and views on here.
Onwards and upwards , completion certificate here i come ( alas ive been waiting 6 months for mine ) !!

I'm with you on this one Luluj. We all have suffered differing experiences in life, which have led us to this site, and whilst some are not very pleasant, I don't see the need to make bad/negative comments on someones success. Lets be honest, we are not nasty towards each other over our failings/debts.
I was very proud to be shortlisted for IP of the year in 2008, and felt that this was rewarding for the years of hard work I had but into the profession and building up my practice. I wish David Mond every congratulations on his win - indeed I emailed him directly from my table at the awards dinner shortly after it was announced, as he unfortunately was out of the country and therefore could not attend in person.
Andy has his own reasons for starting this post - and it should be noted that there were many awards issued on the night, not just the IP of the year one. There were over 600 people in attendance at the event, which followed a very successful conference. Our profession is sometimes difficult to promote, and we are always blasted for spending money on social activities when it is clear that a number of our clients are struggling frome extreme hardship. I suggest that it is now time to let David enjoy his success, and put this thread to bed.
