In Cardiff you could get a range of properties for £725 per month - as you can still buy a house for £60k in this city if you want to live in one of the more dodgier areas!
Hi - Im new to the forum so Hello everyone! We have been in our IVA for 9 months now & we also have to move home & take on increases in Rent & Council Tax. We (my husband & I) have to change our accommodation due to living in a two bedroomed small terraced house, with two little boys (6 & 4 years) whom are growing fast. Plus the landlord is increasing the rent now every 6 months & the property is very cold & damp - causing ill health for us all. We have a chance to move to a property with 3 bedrooms, gardens & drive for an extra 10pounds a month in rent. Only other increase is a higher council tax band & slight changes to house hold bills. We are only able to get a property like this due to it being a friend of the family & due to the credit crunch they are unable to sell & about to move to France long term. Its just across the road from my Parents whom are elderly & my Mum has MS - so I will be able to help them more being so close & my dad soon wont be able to drive. Ive informed my iva company about all this & as we will be moving a month before our year review they said I can just put all the new details on the review forms & should be ok. They have just increased our monthly payments due to slight wage increase - but I think they will have to set them back to the original amount when we move - due to the increases above. Thing is like you, we dont have a choice & for us its a chance for the little ones to have more room to play & better enviroment. If you have to move you have to move. All IVAs should be flexible with changes in circumstances as sometimes it cant be helped - 5 years is along commitment & things dont stay the same for that length of time for anyone. For us the health & happiness of our children has to come before the IVA (sorry creditors). Good luck with trying to find somewhere & make sure its a place you can settle & be happy.
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

I totally agree - I have been living with my brother and his wife for a couple of months and paying them rent and although not too bad cant wait to get my own space again. Plus im sure they will be starting a family soon and then I wont have a choice.....my overtime which I currently pay in and my salary increase will go straight on this but in my eyes its a massive step to me getting back on my feet and living again.
Although we might be in debt we should still be able to live in the location and surroundings we are happy and safe in
Lynsey - grab that opportunity you have to make a better life for your children with open arms. Some things are priceless, and having health children and caring for an elderly relative definately fit into that category.
Thank you Melanie, your words have made me feel alot better about making the move. (we move beginning of March).
Im new to posting & have found it hard to get started - silly really but I will let everyone know how we get on - & thank you to stressed1 for your words too. Hoping for a brighter future for us all in 2009. Good Luck to johnt with moving too - Lyns

You are among friends here - I can remember being nervous when I first started, and now they can't shut me up! - do keep in touch and let us know how everything goes. It is very exciting moving to a bigger house, and do not let that IVA get to you!
Hi Lynsey and welcome to the forum. Go for the move - your family is so much more important than your creditors. Good luck, and please keep posting xxx

IVA accepted 13/11/2008..17 payments down,55 to go..
Protocol Compliant IVA's give the supervisor a little discretion in monthly contributions. If for any reason it falls out of that discretionery band rest assured your IP should propose a variation. Good luck and have a safe move and merry xmas.
