After weeks of sleepless nights and an agonising last night still no result on our IVA's[:(]

Both myself and my wife have separate IVA applications but two joint creditors. Looks like Barclaycard need a further 7 days to look over my wife's proposal.

Barclaycard also have 2 expenditures they want reduced- household and Gas and Elec. As it stands we have the best deal with British Gas that we could get. We were paying a lot more with Scottish Power.

We feel in Limbo at the moment.

How can they ask you to change electric and gas - they have massively increased in price over the past few years and surely what you spend is what you spend?

Not fair to be left in limbo - hope it all gets sorted really soon for you both x

I feel for you johndylan, this must be agonising. We have quite a lot of our debt with Barclaycard (not helped by them taking over Egg etc) and this is a worry I have. How much do they think is too much?

Sorry johndylan, I really hope you get sorted very soon, although are they now expecting you to change utility suppliers? Its crazy! Most of mine and hubbys debt is with barclays/barclaycard and I note quite a few people have mentioned on here that most of their debt is with them aswell (on numerous other posts) surely that says something about them! Hmm maybe there lending too much money out!

Surely how much you spend on electricity and gas depends on your circumstances - whether you have young children, are not at work, have health issues etc. Nobody, especially those who have been struggling to make ends meet, spends more than they need to on heating just for the hell of it.

Thank you all for the messages. This morning was like waiting for your exam results. Only to get to school and find out yours were missing. Debt tired they want us to pay another £50 a month, this will come off our household expenditure. As for the Gas and electric, we are on the best deal with British Gas having 4% discount until jan 2014. This will push my payments to around £665 a month and my wifes to around £350.

Marc has said they may get back to us sooner.

I think its out of order to ask you to lower your gas and electric payments - its not a choice its a necessity payment!! at the end of the day im at final proposal just waiting to sign when it arrives in post, but my partner and i have had the discussion that we are only entering into an iva on the terms of our proposal - we will not be negotiating with them we would go bankrupt, we have no assets to protect so in some ways bankruptcy would be better for us however we feel an iva is a more moral way to pay back some of our debt if not all of it at an affordable rate but if the creditors refuse then we will go bankrupt and the creditors will get far less if anything at all!! I know it doesn't help you as i don't know what situation you are in but they cant get blood from a stone. I hope it all gets sorted for you very soon x
