This is going to be a mixture -David I regret to say is really down in the dumps and he is trying to sleep it off - three times the overseas collection agency has telephoned and three times he told them about the IVA and three times they said they do not accept them -but the last comment on the third call got him - they said he was far too old any way.On top of that my mother had to be admitted to hospital today and even that did not go smoothly. The doctors displayed cold indifference and blatant age discrimination. My mother is nearing 80. David was with me and he got tired of this. The former senior public servant came out in him - he kept spoke very quietly but very firmly. By the time he had finished two consultants came from two different disciplines and they assured him and me all the tests and procedures will be done and that my mother will be treated if at all possible. In fact she had a scan and an echocardiogram before we left. Something the junior doctors and the registrar refused to do. Someone may be answer this because if he wakes in the morning as he went to bed he will be really low - is he too old and secondly why can't he deal with our creditors as he dealt with the hospital and the doctors? J
Hi J,
I am sorry David is feeling low but please tell him I am thinking of him I think he is magnificint. Tell him not to worry about the phone calls they have no choice but to accept the IVA wether they recognise them is tottally irrevelent. It actually may be illegal to say that he is to old for an IVA they have no right what so ever to discriminate against anybody regardless of age, sexuality, religion, race or anything else. The people that are making these calls are not half the person that David or yourself are. Please give David our best wishes and remember there is a big race going on at the moment, it is called the Human Race and it is a pity that the call centre staff have not been entered. Chin up and best wishes to you both.

Although i have not spoken directly to either of you, I actively search for your posts as i feel you try harder than most to help everybody. Creditors are creditors as far as im concerned. And although I do not for that to sound negative, unfortunately there is an element in there. They do not want to know you for kind, loving respectable people you are, but just as another job to call on to earn a bot of commision. Of course it is hard, but not as hard as it would have been had you not chosen the IVA route. I have every faith in your challenges, and just wish for the both of you that the route you have chosen comes very quickly. Im sure the call staff dont actually realise that when the conversation ends, they can ruin and disturb lives. They just plod on and call the next person. You must remain strong for each other throughout, we are all rooting for the both of you, and i think its fair to say that you both have more than your fair share of admirers on this forum.
God bless, and the greatest of luck and fortune the both of you.
Dan.

I just do not know what to say to you all for you are so very, very kind. David is a good man and what has happened he did for me. He cares for my mother as if she was his mother. What I can tell you is that he has utmost trust in Melanie. Look ,this is going to sound very "silky" but you have said so many kind things; we are practising Roman Catholics and I know many people cannot stand the catholic religion but we live our lives and try to help others as our religion dictates - so you see, it is not us. Thank you again, so very much; I shall try to persuade David to read what you have said in the morning.J
I am absolutely furious. I would like the name of the person who made that comment to David, and intend to submit a complaint. This is completely unacceptable from a UK bank, and rest assured will be dealt with as soon as you let me have the information - to my personal e-mail please.
I'm sorry to hear about your mum J. I hope she gets better soon.

J,
Both you and David are good people, everybody on this forum can see this even though we have never met you. David has shared with us all the help he has offered to so many people in your local community and he puts everybody no matter who they are before himself. If I ever had a choice of somebody I wanted to help me when I needed it then David would be at the top of the list as I know he would do everything he could to help anyone. Please tell David that he is far better than what anybody could say about him over the phone. David is a gentleman, call centre staff are not. I wished could be there with you tonight to show David what a gentleman he really is.

Dear Melanie, Thank you; when David gets up in the morning I'll ask him to let you have the details; he has your private e-mail address in his diary. I think it really is my mother that has got to him; it is my turn now to keep him on the straight and narrow as the saying goes yours, J
Thank you for your good wishes - David often directs me to your comments!! J
Keep strong for him J, as the days leading up to a creditors meeting can be very stressful and leave someone with deep feelings of self-doubt. This is a real kick in the teeth and the person who made this comment will not be getting away with it - I promise you.
J,
If the forum's thoughts alone could lift David he would be so high you wouldn't be able to see him. We are all here for you both. I hope you can comfort each other. Melanie will do a fantastic job on the IVA front you will have no worries there. I hope that yourself, David and your mother are all on the up really soon, I will be thinking of you all.

Thank you Melanie; I am going to go up to bed now with him; even our dog has gone upstairs - something she never has done- not even for me. Thank you again everyone, I do not know what I can say to you; all I hope we can meet some of you one day.J
