We were struggling to pay our debts but they were still being paid. we contacted a company who said an IVA would help and asked for a cheque for £300 and sent a direct debit form this was in january 2004 the IVA got proposed in April 2004 and Accepted in May 2004. So by May we had paid into the IVA fund £1200 but had to stop paying creditors to do this which meant we were gathering interest and late payment charges until it was frozen in May. QUESTION 1 Is this normal procedure?
The IVA is completed now (Nov 2005 18 Months) we paid 100p in the pound but our credit report says on some creditors partial payment. QUESTION 2 How can we find out how much our creditors got paid? We paid nearly £7000 more than our £15500 Debt. Thanks for your help

Creditors are entitled to charge contractual interest up until the date of your creditors meeting.

The amounts paid to your creditors ought to have been included in your IP's annual reports and his/her final report of which you should have been provided with a copy.

In hindsight, it is hard to undertand the logic behind you being advised to enter into an IVA with relatively small debts for such a high cost in proportion.

Eventhough your IVA has been completed through a Full & Final Settlement, it will still remain on your credit file for a period of 6 years from the commencement of the IVA, in this case May 2004.

Your I.P should have compiled a report with all the figures provided, showing how much you paid, what the fees were etc. Contact your I.P if you have not yet received this.
