will the credit rating fo outhers in the same household be affected with or without the same surname.

Credit ratings are individual and should not affect anyone else in the household. I did read something about a credit rating of father and son somehow getting merged but I believe they had the same surname and initials. Obviously, if that happened, you can contact the companies concerned and point out the errors. If they are proven incorrect you should be able to get them removed from the other persons rating

Gimmewine is correct - you do this by filing a Notice of Disaccosiation with the Credit Reference Agencies.
