Tesco have finally updated my credit file! Only Britannica Recoveries to sort out now so I'll write to the credit agencies and ask them to sort out the settled date.

One question, I've checked my Experian credit file and I'm not sure about some of the dates. For example the entry from Tesco reads as follows:

Started 01/11/05
Default Date 14/10/06
Account Updated To 25/04/12

Am I right in thinking that the default will drop off on 14/10/06 but the actual entry will remain on my file until 25/04/18?

Thanks!

No the date updated is irrelevant. It goes off the default date and will be completely removed 6 years after that. Equifax take a few days more than six years. It wares by a couple of days to about 8-9 days over the six year mark. They only seem to update heir database on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Experian will update the day after the six year mark as their databases update daily. Just be careful that Equifax do not add a notice of correction to your report saying that the IVA successfully completed as that stays on until you request its removal manually. I swear they do that to sell more credit files. Make sure the IVA is marked as satisfied as experian have a habit of not updating their IVA records..

Thanks Mattyboy. I wish there was only one credit file or they were all laid out the same!

One more question (sorry!) - On Callcredit it shows a default date and a default satisfied date. At what point will the entry drop off my file?

Thanks again

Default satisfied date is also irrelevant, it's from the original default date. Sometimes if one credit file updates with one agency the other two do a few days later automatically but it's luck of the draw. Congrats on getting it sorted, it's great when everything starts dropping off and is clean again!

Thanks again! It's taken 4 years to get Tesco to play ball but at least I've got there in the end!
