Ours went up by a few pounds per year as the police had asked for an increase. I am just glad we have private drainage and a water meter as our water bill is approx £100 per year. Amazing when I see other peoples bills.

I'm thinking of transferring to a water meter as when daughter goes it will be hubby and I living in the house and we don't use a lot. x

I did a comparison and even though there's only 2 of us it worked out more expensive for us to be on a meter. Probably something to do with me having 2 showers most days!

I think you do it with your own water company Lesley.

Ah I'll nip on there site and have a look thanks Jan, can't say I've ever been on their website. Paying £48 @ month so wondering if it would be cheaper. Didn't you swap over to a water meter? If so are you finding it cheaper? x

We did - at the moment it's cheaper but we are using a lot more with the extra washing I've done with baby clothes and daughter being here a lot more. May well go back to the normal water bills.

When the water bill came the other week it did offer a switch over to a meter and you could switch back in a certain time span (but can't remember how long it was). x

Interesting website actually, some freebie to be had and a hosepipe ban for domestic properties from April 5th!

If we don't save money within two years we can switch back at any time within this period so it might be worth a go. x

We invested in a water butt as well last year because of not wanting to use the hosepipe for obvious reasons!!

The one interesting thing is that if you have a meter and then revert back to the old bills, if you sell your house then the buyer has to have the meter.

That's interesting to know Jan. I can't say I agree with it but it's good to know in case we ever move!

Mine hasn't changed, but they have changed the payment from the beginning of the month to the middle, which tbh isn't too bad as i now matches up with my payday which is much more helpful!
