My final payment on my IVA with Debt Free Direct was taken in June 2012...I'm still battling to get my completion certificate. I've had huge problems getting any kind of contact from them - least not without waiting for weeks before receiving a response. Initially they said PPI was causing the hold up, then it was a VAT issue, and most recently they've stated the PPI issue again despite earlier telling me the PPI claims had been settled.
I am beyond frustrated, all I want after 5 years of struggling is to clear my name, to get my completion cert out to all the right people and start repairing my history. Has anyone else had such trouble with DFD? Or do other companies also take this long? I feel like they're going to drag it out to June which will be a year since my final payment, and I'm aware that the IVA stays on my history for 6 years - will that 6 years end this year as in a year from my final payment, or is that 6th year from the date of my completion cert? Because that would be incredibly unfair given I have spent almost a year trying to get the cert out of them, their communication is appalling - I wouldn't know a thing had I not chased them first each time to find out what the hold up has been.
I had no problems with DFD whatsoever throughout the 5 years of my IVA but this past year trying to settle it has been painstaking. Do they not appreciate how important this certificate is to us?!
Any advice/experience would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

I'm sure someone will be along to give advice. Keep your chin up. I'm having similar problems. Been 7 months for me. Have finally got Judith to look into it but the information coming out of DFD is rather peculiar.

Hi your IVA stays on your credit files 6 years from date of the meeting/acceptance. Keep badgering them is my only advice, this isn't fair on the person who has completed their IVA and not all companies are the same, a lot are completing in a timely fashion.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi infectiousmile1 and welcome to the forum, sadly there are many postings around this subject with regards to DFD and they have nothing to say for themselves either, they have either taken on too much work or as they have recently lost Derek Oakley and only just employed someone else this may well have been impacting on closures.

I would definitely keep onto them, if you know your IP's email then I would email them also to keep them in the loop as the many privates in front of these generals will close ranks and not allow you access to them!

I ended up as many know getting my MP involved and within 3 weeks of this happening I got my CC, amazing to be honest but shows it can be done, the VAT was sorted in March so no longer an excuse, PPI if it has been settled then that isn't an excuse either, good luck and best wishes, I hope you get somewhere soon.

Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

hi my last payment with dfd was dec2011 and have had the dresded ppi and vat issues and am still waiting for the cc dfd have not beenable to give me a timescale of closure and the customer services always seem to tell you that it is with adiiferent dept so when you ask to speak to them they tell you thatyou cant ps check your statement from dfd as i believe that dfd stil take ip fees as the iva are still open so less for the creditor and more for them and its good for them being paid to do nothing but make life a misery for us who are still waiting

Your IP will not be keeping your case open for the sake of it, but many firms appear to be experiencing delays in the process of dealing with VAT and more recently claims for mis-sold PPI.

Try and find out exactly what is causing the delay, and an idea of timescale over which you can expect this to be resolved. Guidance has recently been issued to all IPs with regard to being able to close IVAs, regardless of these issues, so you do now need to get some straight answers.

Thank you everyone. I feel I've been pushed from pillar to post with DFD when they do eventually communicate with me! One minute I'm told the PPI and VAT are resolved, then they start bringing them up again when I ask how long it's going to take to receive my certificate. It's beyond frustrating. I will get on to them again today, especially after reading how some people with other companies have received their CC so soon after their final payment - how lucky they are!
