Hello, I closed my IVA at the beginning of this year with a full & final payment. (4 years in) I didn't hear from debt free direct for months & when I tried to open a new current account (August) it was delined as my IVA was still showing as open. I got in touch with Debt Free Direct to see what the problem was & they advised they are waiting for authorisation to claim PPI. I had them urgently send the forms out which I signed & returned to only receive another form early October advising they had a typo on the 1st form & I needed to sign another.
It is now November & I am looking to purchase my 1st house with my partner. I am a Halifax Bank staff member with the hope of taking a staff mortgage, my concern is the current account I tried to open was with Halifax & declined on the basis I had an IVA open.
I have spoken with a mortgage adviser & she has stated everything is system generated with no option to override. I of course want to take my staff mortgage due to the discount but I don't want to be sat there to hear that I've been declined because my IVA is still open.
I believe that irrespective of whether your IVA is completed or not, it will remain on your file until 6 years from the date it was approved, if Halifax won't even consider you for an account with the IVA on your file then they aren't going to consider you for a mortgage either I would think.
