I was wondering that Lula but I forgot to ask! It's probably beyond my capabilities though!

I can beat swearing in mass.

I once got a fit of the giggles at a funeral. Now that was completely and utterly mortifying. And it was completely out of my control.[:I]

I often laugh when I'm nervous or in an awkward situation so I can relate to that Johnz!

My dad's cousin went to my aunt's funeral years ago and as he was following the hearse his car alarm started going off. He got to the crematorium with the alarm still going and the lights flashing and someone managed to stop it for him, but it started again on the way to the wake. He stopped to try and sort it out, got seperated from the rest of the cars, got lost and arrived 2 hours after the wake had finished! My dad and I both have a black sense of humour and it really amused the pair of us!

Wasn't funny at the time but when my Father in law died, I took my three of my children in Father in laws pride and joy an MG. Hubby went with MIL and youngest daughter in the limousine. I followed the limousine. Drew up in the Crematorium car park, left it in gear and crashed straight in a bush! This was this poor blokes pride and joy and I'm wrecking it! I then got out the car and so did 3 of my children, one of them decides to preen himself in mirror and I don't notice and lock him in! He's banging on the window to be let out as I'm walking away towards all awaiting relatives!

Again it wasn't funny at time but at my dad's funeral we were all in the limousine when I suddenly noticed that my mum's dog had got out and was running down the road. My uncle and I got out in our funeral finery and took off after her! Luckily she was obedient and came back but I could imagine my dad looking down and having a laugh!

I did have to stiffle a giggle at my aunts funeral when they were lowering her into the ground and an intercity 125 came past and beeped its horn - talk about timing.

Although the thought of Skippy running after a dog in her funeraly finery does conjure up a great image.

Chilli oil - Just brought cheap extra virgin olive oil from Lidl, put it in some nice glass bottles that had washed up through the year (I like the little square ones from tesco) put a sprig of rosemary in for greenery and flavour (from the garden) and then put the chillis in (homegrown). Went down like a storm and people can reuse it time after time but just topping up with more olive oil.

Also got recipe for making homemade truffles that I got from when I went a chocolate making session for my hen do! Ideal Christmas pressies and cheap to do and tastes great! You do unfortunately (!) get covered in chocolate which is a big down side (who am i trying to kid!)

Hi - on the subject of Christmas in an IVA - me and my husband have managed to save almost £350 this year by putting all our spare silver coins in a tin. We have tried to leave the tin alone all year (but obviously it is very useful if you do have a mid-year crisis!) and then we bag it all up and take it to the bank to change up. We actually went and did our present shopping on Sunday and came home having got all our presents and with some left over for the edible goodies so it has definitely paid off for us having a piggy bank!

Worth a try? It has definitely taken the worry out of the Christmas present pressure for us this year.

Regards

Liz

Just a note to e.h. -

I decided to adopt your savings idea. I found a money box in our local "Pound Shop" type store. Its basically a big tin can with a slot for coins or notes BUT there is no other opening!! The only way to get into it is to open the top with a tin opener - so I am hoping this will get rid of the temptation to dip into it. Silly to pay 99p for a big tin can but I decided to follow your lead - thanks for the tip.

Just came across this old thread and noticed that my use of the word "b**p" in the title has been censored to "b**p"!!!!!

I dont mind - but did not realise that "b**p" might be looked upon as a rude word!! Does it have a meaning I dont know about??

Left to their own devices, computers have a weird sense of humour [:)]
