Does anybody on the forum know if the Co-Op Cashminder account offers a Visa or Electron debit card?

Thanks.

Hiya in2deep, i have just opened a cashminder account and recieved my card yesterday and they have replaced the electron card with a normal visa debit card, should be better because i heard the electron was not accepted in a lot of places, the info booklet that came with it explained they have replaced the electron with the normal visa debit card, hope this helps you in2deep.

You should have no problems with the Co-op card.

The above should read "tesco online shoppping" Apparently it is because the visa electron can be issued to 16yr olds and you can shop for alcohol online......

Sometimes it's not - I think there is a lot of confusion about this card, it says it is a Visa, but people have said that it is an Electron still.

If you can't use it online, just phone the company up and see if you can use it that way. Sometimes it works.

i asked the coop about this and their cashminder visa card seems to be a visa card with some limitations.
They tell me its not as versatile as a normal visa card.

Mine says Visa Debit on the front and Link on the back. It begins with 4508.

Co-op say:

This new Visa Debit card is a replacement for our current electron cards.

If you already have an electron card blah blah blah

Your new VD card gives you greater convenience and point of sale purchasing power than ever before. It can be used at Visa merchants and ATMs worldwide etc and can be used for mail order, telephone order and internet transactions.

I've shortened the blurb as my s key doesn't work so would take me forever to type it out lol!

I don't think it is. However there are a lot of places that you can use it, and, as I said, if you can't use it online, just give the firm a call and you may be ok.
