a week after my iva was approved i recieved my autumn/winter catalogue from littlewoods.so i had a quick look through just to get ideas for things for my house & i never realised till now just how expensive the things in there actually are,and yes,it used to be so easy just to keep ordering things & let the balance build up.the man in the post office used to hate me as i was forever taking in returns.anyway its in its rightful place now-the recycling sack ! i dont miss it one single bit.[:D] [:D] x

Good for you Tori. You know, I've never had a catalogue. I wonder what I would have been like if I had......ooh, dread to think!

i think they are just as bad as credit cards viki, and because the majority of them are interest free you dont always look on them as credit.and like ang said the more you buy the more they keep upping your limit.anyway i now have a spare cupboard in my kitchen(where my catalogues used to live!)and ive saved a fortune on phonecalls to the orderline ! never again.x [:)]

It is a misnomer that catalogues are interest free. Categorically they are not.

If I want a pair of shoes and see them in Timpsons for £20, then in a catologue they will be £40 but I can pay £2 per week "interest free".

The fact that there is a 100% mark up is somehow overlooked.

Regards.

absolutely!!! at the end of the day it is just one big con,but pre iva i personally was drawn to the misleading term 'interest free' & cannot believe that i used to buy so much stuff from the catalogue,as the items in there are without a doubt twice the price they are in the shops, and this realisation is all part of the rehabilitation process.thank goodness i have seen the light ! right, rant over with.[:)] [:)]

I still use the big girls catalogue! I've never had credit on it though and always pay full end of month. Only ever used it with a 20% off code as well!!
Havn't used it since xmas but need a swimming cosy for hols, so... on thurs I ordered a few with 10% code, didn't have the other. On friday I get one in the post grr.
To make it more fun the parcel arrived today and non of it is my order!! now having to send this lot back reorder and hope it arrives in time! Only good bit is I've now reordered with 20% code!
Asda and Tesco both do nice big girl clothes quite cheaply now.

Sainsburys have also started to do quite a good big girl range too.I went to Matalan today and they also had a few bits in.I bought a bra/nickers/socks/long jumper for £15 because the sale was on!

lol cat, virtual shopping is about all I can afford these days! Matalan's usually quite good too.
I'm currently trying to find something for a hen do tonight!! I've an hour to try a few things on and go with whatever I'm wearing when my lift arrives. Could be interesting.... lol
