Hi Chas

It is very difficult to change your IP company once and IVA has been set up. Why do you feel that you need to change - are you having difficulties with your current provider?

Seems heavyhanded if that is all you are outstanding. Are all of your contributions up to date?

this is one thing that definatley needs addressing down the line.it is ok for a iva company to go tits up and another company to then take over there books with no say from the clients with that company who have no choice.but its nearly impossible to ditch a iva company and move to another.why is this?move the paperwork and call a variation with the creditors and that's all I can see needs to be done.
I will prob be told it cant be done but why if everybody concerned is in agreement to it.
always thought this process is a bit onesided,ok if you get it right first time with your choice of company but everything in life is not that easy.

which highlights the need to do your homework and speak to 2, maybe 3 or more companies and it's ideal if you can find the forum and get some personal recommendations, word of mouth is always good.

its all ifs and buts though Lesley if I had my time again and I was fortunate to have found the forum first then its all hunky dory, but how many of us even know how an iva works or who to go to at the beginning when your life is in utter turmoil.you grasp at the first olive branch of hope.its very hit and miss if you don't know the score at the outset.

I agree with back on track. When I knew I'd hit rock bottom we contacted a debt help line, next thing I knew GT was in touch, I was just so reliieved for someone to helping it never occurred to me you could choose a company.
Then when the dust settles you search about, you find this site but it's all too late.
Surely if you're paying for a service you should have the right to change who provides it, not all the time but at least once.

I agree, BoT -- even with research at the start companies often change attitude part way through. Most, not all, throw every resource at getting you hooked, then abandon you, to all intents and purposes, once you are signed up. They are fully aware that you can do nothing about it and some act accordingly.

I do think that, if you can demonstrate bad customer service, you shgould be able to apply to the court for a change on a fast stream basis. Then companies would take more of an interest in the debtor side of the equation if there were the possibility of losing a revenue stream.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

if we dont tell them why the payment was not made then they say they will push for bankruptcy. even though the payment was sent on the 18th and on the bank statement as been cashed on the 28th. feel like just throwing it all down the pan.

chas hang in there, hopefully sorted on Tuesday, worst weekend to have a problem I acknowledge that due to two bank holidays.

I further acknowledge we didn't all find the forum pre-IVA but I did say that in my reply. Also companies get sold on to others so you're not always with your first choice of provider. Lots of ifs and buts I agree.
