It is always a possibility but doesn't usually happen. If they do, you don't have to open the door to them, or pay them anything.

Pretty unlikely in my experience. Of the hundreds of people my firm has helped over the last year or so, I could count on one hand the number who have actually had a debt collector visit them in person.

I doubt whether you will get a visit. Your creditors will know you are in an IVA so their files should have been annotated.

In the 12 months I have been posting on here, I have only ever known three posters say that they have had them call.

I'm sure that Jan is meaning me as one of the unlucky one's.

They came to my door! Mercers for Barclaycard. On 10th March 09, the day before my creditors meeting.

The guy was ok, I just explained the iva situation, and he left. It was not as bad as you would think, please don't worry.
Life is a rollercoaster, we just have to ride it!

iva approved. 5 down 55 to go

Yeah, I'm one of the unlucky ones too. Again, Mercers, don't you just love them. The lady was so polite and was annoyed that Mercers hadn't told her that I was going for an IVA. She wrote something down and never came back. That was after 8 months of non-payment and it is very rare for them to come out. Please don't worry.

Hi
Creditors can use the threat of a visit to try to get a payment from people. In reality as others have said a visit is very, very unlikely

as i said on a previous thread they do come out and mine was after only 2 missed payments.
as the above have said, dont worry they are quite discreet and are fine once you tell them your in negotiations for an iva.
just seems a bit of a waste of money so early on.
