There have been many cases of IVA companies/ IPs not giving the certificates after the 5-6 period of the IVA completion, even though 'all' agreed payments have been done (in the original terms and conditions)
This is causing them delays and stress
a) what are the main causes cause of this 'certificate' delay ?
b) Is it the IP companies fault? or on the creditor side ?
c) If Ip companies side, why are they causing this delay? (as some people have been in depression )
d) Why do some companies give 'excuses' and not even answer phone calls,or give proper answers? to people, after year 5, asking for their certificate ?
e) When phoning around for Ip companies, doing your research, and asking how their certificate completion happens, how can you make sure they say what they mean?
f) What if they say something now (Just to fob you off) and if year 5, they say something else? when you have done everything they say ?

flamingate - you have many posts on this forum asking a wide range of IVA related questions. Are you considering entering an IVA or just doing research for a project? It doesn't matter either way, just curious.

Considering, and have had friends in the past members in some bad scenarios of choosing 'wrong companies' in other debt issues (not ivas)
..so due to experience doing research.
Certificate completion is a big concern, as it is the verification.
and certain questions can help other readers too (as i have had some Pms saying thanks).
Some of us waiting two years and beyond did not originally choose our company but were transferred over and it seems are being pushed to the back of the queue in my opinion.
Personally, I believe it's time these companies were taken to task over this. I had to wait a year for my CC owing to the VAT issue. When I entered the IVA I was led to believe that after 5 years that was it all done and dusted. I was also led to believe that post IVA, you'd be in a better position than if you'd gone bankrupt, when that isn't really the case.
It seems that high street banks typically wont give you a mortgage ever or, at least until six years have passed since the IVA was completed. If the IP holds on to the CC for a couple of years that becomes 8 years if my maths are correct - I'd suggest that ought to be grounds for compensation in itself, let alone when you add on the stress & misery that these companies are causing.
Maybe it's time someone approached a lawyer to see if they'd be prepared to take it up on a no win no fee basis.
Flamingate -- your questions are unanswerable as there are so many variables in life ( and IVA's Instead of asking impossible questions read around the forum, and other forums, and you really need to make your own mind up on many of these issues.
Incidentally, you have not had any PM's from our forum as messaging is disabled -- if you have been getting emails or some such, they do not originate from here, so treat with caution.

The thing is CS2012, no-one has made any noise outside of this forum. We are but a minority of clients these firms have -- are the others suffering as we are ?
How many of the complainants on this forum have formally complained to their IP's ? How many have written to the Regulators ? How many have followed up on my previous posts suggesting they make this noise and also involve MPs and Jo Swinson MP ?

Totally agree with Foggy, no private messages can be sent from the forum so I would be wary of receiving anything portraying to be so unless you have received an email from Admin/Andy themselves and this applies to all other posters too.
I would certainly not be happy if my certificate was held up for any length of time and would be shouting from the rooftops. It must be possible to close cases as on the forum we have two companies who do just this!
Flamingate you'd not go far wrong reading the posts on the forum and I know two companies stick out as being two of the best in the business!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I understand this moderators, and you are pointing this out.
I was just saying in experience I have had friends who have made incorrect decisions due to lack of research or even with good research and are now worse off.
Even went through counselling which eventually they couldn't even afford, (counselling due to depression/ from being financially worse off),
so asking on a forum related to such a topic, when choosing a big commitment.
These 2 companies you are mentioning 'take' other peoples cases(they take limbo cases, which have completed the 5 years) and close them for them?
I totally agree it's a big commitment and by making an informed choice now you could save yourself problems in the future.
I mentioned two companies (one who I was with and another) who appear to have great customer care and are closing cases in a timely fashion. However, what happens in the future who knows and it doesn't mean something else won't crop up to delay closures even for these companies.

Foggy, I would imagine there are many suffering in silence. How wonder how many people in IVA's aren't computer savvy? How many are unaware of this forum?
I agree that more people should have written to the regulators, gone to their MP & indeed the press however, I think a lot of people in IVA's are in fear of their IP firm - this is a being that has held great power over their lives for the last few years therefore, they afraid to do, or indeed, say anything which may rock the boat so to speak.
The whole situation stinks & someone ought to pay a high price for the misery that has been inflicted & continues to be inflicted on people who've complied with their side of the bargain, often struggling along, only to find the door closed at the end of the dark tunnel, with no definitive indication of when when they'll finally be allowed back out in to the world.

I completely agree, CS2012, and the whole dilemma is compounded by the fact that you are, essentially, trapped with your particular company for the duration.
If our problems are, indeed, a snap shot of the wider IVA clientele, then the Government and law makers need to be made aware of these problems or they will blindly continue to believe that all is well.
Many of the problems we are encountering with completion are, on the face of it, basic breaches of contract on the part of the IP and, as far as I can see, basic procedure is not being followed.
However, as you outlined in your post, we are "rabbits caught in the headlights" and the larger firms are banking on those headlights !!!

My IP asked about PPI at my 1st review, I think my exact words to them were "Fill your boots, if you want it feel free to apply for it", that way I am not getting involved with it and it doesn't cause me any stress (besides if they want to make a claim for stuff that doesn't exist (which I doubt they would), then its them on the block for it)
So in 4 years time, they have got 30 days to sort out a completion certificate (ample time), as I have stuck to my end of the bargain, perfectly fair I think.
