Just wondering if anybody knows much about it?
I have had a problem for about 6 weeks now where my foot swells and is really painful. It kind of gets a red pocket of fluid down one side of my foot and underneath all the toes.
I was told by the local hospital that it was Celulitis so i googled it. Mine looks nothing like the pictures i have seen. There re no open sores and it doesnt weep.
I cant fit any of my shoes on so i am having to wear my daughters which have now stretched too big for her because of the swelling.
Its b***** painful!!

My hubby had cellulitis once Lisa, he came home from work and he's a carpenter and they think as he spends a lot of time on his knees he'd knelt on a nail and got a deep infection, it swelled up and had open blisters and this all happened in a few hours of him coming home from work. His did look like the google pics. I used to have some pics of his and if I still have can show you some if you want but would have to search for them. x

I had that a few years ago, right at the base of my spine - I couldn't sit down properly for ages and had to have very powerful antibiotics which gave me the trots!

My blisters eventually burst, but it is extremely painful and I never want it again!

Hope yours clears up soon Lisa.

I suffer cellulitis every summer when it gets extremly hot at work. I have always worked in a warm place but stood on my feet nine and half hours a day doesn,t help. My legs blister and they look just as though i have spilled boiling water down them.

Wickerwish that is interesting as my hubby's leg has flared up again at the minute although not too badly at present but it's getting warmer and he has to wear fairly thick PPE at work so it's worth considering this point for him. x

My doctor usually sends me to dermatology department at hospital but antihitamine tablets from supermarket help ease my legs.

No swabs, no anything. Just a check from the doctor on call at local hospital. My own GP didnt disagree but i dont think he was overly convinced either but gave me anti biotics anyway.
The fluid stuff in it is red and really warm and i can see it under my toes. Sometimes it itches too but not all the time.

I never had any swabs, but the antibiotics were very strong ones and they did the trick. Fortunately, the blisters burst otherwise I was informed that I would have had to go to the hospital to have them lanced! Thank goodness I didn't!

I would try for a 2nd opinion Lisa as I know illness varies within all us in respect of symptoms etc., you do need to be sure and being on AB's for that long surely isn't making you feel any better. Hope you get it sorted very soon. x

Hi Lisa

Yeah, I have seen it lots and lots of times, its basically an infection in the cells, celulitis. Its a lower limb problem, has many causes, nerves, unequal hydrostatic pressure. The best thing to do is elevate the affected leg, you are seeing the DN? Dressing anti biotics are the first line with this as it tends to march on..... I am so sorry that youre suffering I know its painful.

Once went to see a patient and she was weeping awfully both legs, I phoned her son to get her some Anti biotics but he was at the airport catching a plane on his hols. I phone the GP listed on the notes, she didnt exist as far as they were concerned, right run around it was but finally managed to get her sorted.

I hope things get sorted for you and quickly, good luck and rest!

Mine was at the top of my bum - not good and couldn't sit comfortably for a couple of weeks. I was told that if it hadn't burst on its own, it would have been hospital for me.

I hope I never have it again as it was awful.

I have no blisters or anything. A friend of mine has it also but his has blisters and looks completely different.
On Monday the swelling went down but today its swelling again. It swells and develops like a pocket of fluid under my toes and stops me being able to move my toes.
Have had MORE anti biotics but it still keeps coming back.

Thanks for all the replies by the way xxx
