I may very well get hammered for putting them on here Mel but they are in the public domain.

We are with the cccs and that link does give an intresting read. To be honest we have sat down and wrote down exactly what we do spend. Petrol etc costs us more than the guideline but we put our case across of why we spend that amount and they are quite happy with that.If you feel during the year certain things are not right budget wise than ring them up straight away and tell them you need to sort that bit of expenditure out. Dont wait until the sh*t hits the fan.

Like its been said time and time again on this site if you are in a IVA and you do not have a fair budget that you CAN live on what chance does the IVA stand of running to the end?

When these big companys go bust do you think they think about all the people who have lost deposits and goods? NO!!! So sadly i dont feel too much guilt over our creditors.( Well Nationwide i do because they have been very very fair with us.)

I find this "put down what you spend" is a bit unfair.

Put down what you spend if it is OVER the CCCS guidelines and if not put down the high level CCCS amount.

This is for the non-utilities (i.e. food, clothes, etc)

You should put down what you spend - it's not right if you claim more than you are actually spending.

We disagree on this Jan.

How is it fair that if you have 1 person in an IVA (2 adults and no children) and one get £250 on food and household. And another person in an IVA in the same circumstance gets £320 ?

It all depends on individual circumstances. Some people are allowed a smoking allowance, others have allowances for pet insurance.

You will never get everyone to agree on what is right and what isn't.

IVAs must be based on what people actually spend - there is no other way to do it, but of course creditors can limit the expenditure should they wish. We used to manage very finely in this profession to put forward good IVAs without the assistance of CCCS guidelines after all.

When we started our IVA we didnt know we could claim for dry cleaning, hairderssers and pet insurance. We just pay for these things out of our contingencies. When we found out we could claim for them we were told we could not add to our expences after we have started the IVA. If people know what they are entitled to before working out their budgets I feel things could run a little smoother. I know when we started we just wanted to be exepted and so didnt look at the long term and put down what we thought would be exepted. I am pleased to say we have a very good IP who looks after us and if we are in a fix really helps us with our expenditure figures at the annual reviews.

I didn't realise you could get allownaces for school meals (little foggy wasn't in full time education then). I mentioned them at my review and they were added straight in ... so it can be done.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I've always claimed for work meals and this has been allowed.

That's interesting Kallis as right at the start of this process Payplan told me that a DMP was right for me then quoted allowances which were much lower than the CCCS had already given me, but they were telling me as they did it "this is what the CCCS guidelines allow". They didnt listen to me at all an I quickly came to the conclusion that Payplan were too heavily weighted in the creditors favour.

I was never told about CCCS guidelines - I just told them what we spend, and have continued to do so ever since and have had no problems. I've just received confirmation from our annual review that our payments will only alter due to the fact that we have to make up a payment break so that's good news.

Its a difficult area, as when you are staring out it is really tough to identify everything you spend on and I think guidance and help from your IP is needed here.

Also, I was spend money like water, so it was impossible for me to judge how much I spend to a realistic level. The net result is I am very much down on some of my allowances compared to others, which in my view is not fair.
