we did a car boot sale today and made £80, feel well chuffed as it done us a favour getting rid of it!

am taking my daughters tomorrow to see mama mia on the pictures, getting sweets, pop and popcorn from aldi (no way am paying cinema prices). feels like it will be a real treat and paid for by our old junk[:D]

Barb ... let me know what the film's like ... my daughters are taking ME on Thurs ... times they are a changing!

I was talking with a family recently and we were laughing at how dad used to brew all his own beer and homemade wine ... there would be dustbins full of bubbling beer on the go ... we wondered whether, with the credit crunch, this might come back into fashion!

As for me,I am getting a little too extravagent ... not having had a holiday in yonks I have just booked up a coach trip for the weekend to the Glen Miller Festival http://www.twinwoodevents.com/glenn-miller-festival.htm

Looking forward to it ... but hated spending the money!!![;)]

Oh Debbie your post has made me so nostalgic.

I used to live on a smallholding with my parents in West Wales, and my Dad was a big homebrewrer - he would make beer and wine out of really stange ingredients, and some of it was really potent! Our airing cupboard always had a bin of home brew bubbling away.

And he was the biggest Glenn Miller fan ever - having seen him perform at a couple of concerts over here during the war. Dad died 20 years ago this year, but I still get a bit choked when I remember things like this.

Just opened up the link you posted - and am sorely tempted to book to give Hubby and I a treat as we love that sort of festival.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

Mamma Mia is fantastic. Went last week. I've seen it on stage and I honestly think that the film is just as good. Everyone in the cinema got up at the end to dance! You'll love it. X

Lesley, glad you're weekend was good. X

Go for it Melanie ... might see you there.

I have a confession to make ... I am being a little more extravagent than I am letting on as the weekend before that I am going to the Edinburgh Tattoo! I feel as if my life is at last starting to open up again [:)]
